Am I too thin? I train horses and work hard every day, so I get an automatic workout, but my boyfriend keeps trying to make me gain weight. I have a D chest, a tiny waist, strong arms, legs, and abs, and a curvy backside, so I'm happy with my body, and I'm NOT skin and bones. Should I gain some weight for him anyway?

Wow, this is the opposite of the questions we usually get. See readers, some guys do like curvy women.

Don't gain weight just to make him happy. If he's worried about your health, that's a different story entirely. But if he just likes curves, you shouldn't have to change your body (and risk possible health problems) just because he wishes that you had additional junk in your trunk.

If you're happy with your body, then, by all means, go on with your bad self. You know the saying "you can never be too rich or too thin"? The Duchess of Windsor said that, and she was way too thin and married like seven times. You can actually be too rich or too thin if you're still miserable on the inside. That said, you sound you have a healthy level of confidence in your appearance. Your boyfriend should boost that confidence, not make you feel like you should change.

The fact that he's trying to make you into someone that you're not isn't a great sign. Were his previous girlfriends curvy? Perhaps this is his way of subconsciously showing you that he's unhappy in the relationship. Wanting to change little things about your partner (like bad habits) is normal. But once he wants to physically change you, that's often a sign that he wants to be with someone else.

Definitely make it clear that you are happy with yourself. Ask him why he wants you to gain weight. If he says he's concerned for your health, let him know that you appreciate his concern but that you feel good about yourself. Talk to a doctor if he feels like you're dangerously underweight. But if he tells you he just wants to you be curvier, then tell him to be happy with what he has. If that isn't good enough for him, there are plenty of other guys out there who will appreciate you. To borrow a phrase from the great New York poet Billy Joel, don't go changing just to try to please him.

Indeed! I've gained some weight, and although I'm still attractive in some opinions, I definitely had more admirers when I was skinny. As long as you're healthy, you're doing the right thing!

Sophie might have kinda unknowingly hit the nail-on-the-head with saying she got hit on more when she was thinner...from the way you decribed yourself I honestly dont see any guy not liking your form. You sound like the type of girl that has the 'desired body' that other girls wish they had and guys wish they could get. I dont know your boyfriend's personality, but if he is the jealous type he might not like the idea that you get hit on by other men or whatnot. He might actually be worried he'll lose you because you are too good looking. Or maybe he does just like curves on a woman...but since you said you have a curvy backside and topside I dont see what else he could ask for!

Are we certain that the questioner knows the difference between too skinny and thin?? I feel like, without a picture, we are beholden to believe her conception of her own body size.

I think we can agree that most men don't ask their ladies to put on weight if they don't look emaciated. I mean, most men that want a woman with curves go for those type of women in the first place- not the ones who need to put on weight to get there.

I would tell the questioner to ask her friends and relatives what they think of the situation. If they all say that you look healthy, then you are probably fine. If they, like your boyfriend, think it might be a healthy move for you to put on a few, you might want to rethink what may be best for you.
