"And you know, technically, I have a girlfriend." What the hell does that mean? This was one of the reasons given to me when a guy that's been flirting with me at work suddenly went all deep on me. The other reason: "You'd get sick of me."

You know what it means. It means he has a girlfriend. But here's the thing: if you hook up with this bro, then any fallout or heartbreak that happens as a result is your fault. Because you were warned. He warned you. He basically told you he was a player. The fact that you're even writing me this question suggests that you are thinking about it. Thinking about him. Hoping that the things he's told you is some kind of code that means "I'm a goodly errant knight on a white steed and I shall whisk you away to my gumdrop castle where you will be Queen of my kingdom of butterflies."

That other thing he told you, "You'd get sick of me," is brilliantly simple way of challenging your lady ego. He's telling you the truth: you would get sick of him. Because he's a jackhole who will be telling other women behind your back that he technically has a girlfriend. But what you're hearing is one of those guys at the boardwalk trying to convince you to win a stuffed animal by shooting a pyramid of cups in a totally rigged game. "Step right up, and try your luck! You could be the next winner!"

BUT YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE. LOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoSE. And you won't even have a fun time before losing!

Stay away from this dude. I give the playa some credit -- he's not being dishonest. His message is clear. Stay away from him, but if you can't -- then you forfeit any right to complain about the consequences.

Thank you. That's what I needed to hear. I guess this is a confusing situation for me because he has zero to none dating experience and has only slept with a few people, so I was trying to think that maybe he was genuinely confused.

what happens if i AM the girlfriend (of another guy, of course, i hope lol)...
but he has had said to me "you'll get sick of me" -- what the heck does that* mean when its your boyfriend that tells you that?!

It means he either
a.) has very low self-esteem and is prepping himself emotionally for when you leave him, which he's sure you will or
b.) he doesn't see himself with you long-term, but he doesn't want to leave you, so he's going to slowly drive you away by making you think you don't want to be with him.

Either way, it's probably not a good sign.

Run like hell, sug. There won't be good times with this guy. He's not confused, he's a douche. Read the warning label on this one...
