Any good song recommendations from your ipod right now? I've been working a lot and while I drive I just resort to listening to the radio - but I miss good music!

Now that the weather is FINALLY getting warmer, I've been getting my spring mix on. Here are some hot jams and albums I'm into right now. (Since there are some hip hop tracks on here, some of the language is NSFW.)

STRFKR, "Bury Us Alive" - Fans of indie electro bands like MGMT, Yeasayer and Passion Pit will love this one. Pretty much every song on STRFKR's new album, Reptilians, is a hummable gem. And, yes, their name has a dirty word in it. (Say it fast.)

Saigon and Jay-Z, "Come on Baby"
-  Saigon's album finally came out, and it's easily the best hip hop record since, well, at least since Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. It's also the best thing ever produced by a star of Entourage.

Destroyer, "Kaputt"-
When Dan Bejar isn't making amazing music with The New Pornographers, he's releasing eclectic albums as Destroyer. This song, and the entire Kaputt album, is a throwback to the sort of smooth music from the '70s and '80s (Michael McDonald, Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins) that I cannot get enough of.

Odd Future
, "Yonkers" and "Sandwitches"
- Odd Future, a hip hop collective comprised of a bunch of deranged, insanely talented teenagers, have blown up on the Web and on Jimmy Fallon in the past few months. (They also just caused a riot at SXSW.) While they're not for everyone (the lyrics can be pretty intense and graphic), Odd Future is a group to watch.

Katy Perry and Kanye West,  "E.T."
- What? It's better than "Firework." Plus, it reminds me of T.a.t.u., those Russian fake lesbians who made extremely awesome pop music and then vanished. And I really don't have much of a problem with Katy Perry. She makes good, dumb pop music and is way less gross than Ke$ha.

Adele, "Rolling In the Deep"
- Adele's new album, 21, is even better than her first. Her voice is tremendous, and "Rolling in Deep" is proof that real soul music is still being made.

Jay Electronica and Jay-Z, "Shiny Suit Theory" - I cannot wait for this guy to release a full album. Every single he's leaked so far is killer. (Also check out "Exhibit C," which is easily the best hip hop track in years.)

Keri Hilson, "Pretty Girl Rock"
-
This song is a few months old, but it still makes me want to strut-- Uh, I mean walk triumphantly through the streets.

Wild Flag, "Future Crimes"
- Wild Flag is basically my beloved Sleater-Kinney, but minus Corin Tucker and plus Mary Timony from Helium. They'll never replace Sleater-Kinney, but I'm liking what I've heard.

Warren G and Nate Dogg, "Regulate"- A smooth old-school jam in honor of the late Nate Dogg. "The rhythm is the bass and the bass is the treblllllllle..."  R.I.P., the G-Funk era.

Rebecca Black, "Friday" - This one will be on my iPod for a long, long time.

More picks: Lykke Li, "Get Some" and "Youth Knows No Pain"; "Coming Home," Diddy Dirty Money; "Under Cover of Darkness," The Strokes; Fleet Foxes, "Helplessness Blues"; Childish Gambino, "Freaks and Geeks"; Wye Oak, "Civilian" and "Two Small Deaths"; Glasser, "Apply"; Best Coast, "Boyfriend"; Go! Team, "Tornado"; "Lost in the World," Kanye West; and maybe a couple songs on that really lackluster new Radiohead album.

Any music picks for spring?

When you're tired of hearing the same boring songs play over and over on the radio and can't seem to find any better music anywhere, try making your own music. I started making my own upbeat music to listen to while I was running, but now I make upbeat songs just for the fun of it. Making songs the way you like them takes the guesswork out of finding new songs to listen to. Learn how to make your own music at http://www.upbeatsongs.net
