Well, I can't really imagine that-wait, did you just ask me if you should be worried that your boyfriend is going to bang his sister?
OK, time to check yourself here. If he's flirting with his sister, that's a dumping offense, but if you're so insecure in the relationship you worry that he's going to violate social standards and the law just to sleep with anybody that's not you, then frankly, you need to see a professional because that's well beyond relationship paranoia.
Look, some guys do let their penis make the decisions, but it's very few who just mindlessly stick it into anything with a vagina, even if it's related to them. It's unlikely in the extreme your boyfriend is one of them.
To answer the gross end of your question; yes, there are guys who are willing to acknowledge that their sister is sexually attractive. But there's a huge gap between acknowledging that and actually rubbing genitals with your own sister. More like a chasm. A gulf. A vast, howling void where the wind whistles "EEEEEEEWWWWWWW!!!"
What does more common than most people think mean?
Do most people think it only happens every 1 in billion people where it really happens every 1 in 500 million (so twice as much as most people think) does that really matter?
So, given that you seem to think it is likely your bf could bang his sister, it seems that the issue is not with what most people think or do, but what you think. Perhaps you could try thinking for yourself and brushing up on some statistics. . .
It, sadly, probably does occur more than most people think, but probably is still very very rare.
Marriage to first cousins is not that uncommon, occuring in small more isolated or closed communities and among royals. Some castes and ethnic groups in India permitted uncle/niece marriages.
But only society I am aware that had brother/sister marriages was ancient Egyptian royalty. They considered themselves gods, and therefore only one suitable to marry an Egyptian royal would be another god, a sibling or first cousin, with preference to marrying a sibling. Could explain why they are gone. I mean gone, not as not ruling anymore, as in no one today can prove they come from any ancient Egyptian dynasty, unlike in China or India where there are families that are still around directly descended from ancient the royal houses.
I can easily acknowledge my sister and my brothers are good looking people - but I DEFINITELY do not want to have sex with them!!!!!!! I moreso feel happy for them (proud, even?)because they have great looks (among other things, obviously.)
WHOAAAAA! What a f-cked up question, yet this is a f-cked up world so I can see why you will ask such a question.
Simon Freud, the most prominent psychologist claimed that daughters are instinctively sexually attracted to their fathers and son to mothers. WOW. What a claim, right? I think we need to take out 'sexual' part of it. Because we can argue that the attraction son has to mother and daughter to father is the parental and stability they provide that attracts us. It is a safety net attraction. This may be why children without mothers or fathers, through-out their life seek a partner... that...is like a father or mother figure.
There goes the "daddy issues" that younger women without fathers have. Without a father, the instability in these young womens' lives triggers them to want an older man, a MUCH older man....but in reality they were in search of the safety or stability that an older man can provide. But of course, they later realize...all he is a father figure and not a lover, equal, etc.
Anyways, to your question: animals (we are animals bytheway) are attracted to people with different gene pools, so they can create a stronger offspring. that said, many animals mate within their family...yep. And many many human beings marry first cousins, second cousins, or a distant cousin. This is partly due to how close or conservative a family is..
There is a sociological term for this. The spacial closeness one has to one another triggers attraction. Thats why sometimes closed off family (mormons? traditional cultures?) practice incest, marry close cousins, etc. Is your boyfriend close to his sister? Do they live in the same house? Do they have many friends? How conservative were their upbringings? All these may be significant in your case.
Sigmund. Not Simon.
Haha Crissie, that's actually the least of the problems with this post.
Neither living in close proximity nor being close to family compels someone to incest. I think just the opposite.
The reason believed by many PROFESSIONAL anthropologists, that marriages to first cousins were more common in antiquity and some cultures today is the limited availability of mates. A young adult (which meant in those days 13 or 14) didn't have many people to choose from, they kind of had to consider their first cousins. Royalty and nobility, considered themselves above commoners, so they would only marry other nobles and royals, which again, often ended up being first cousins. And no, the ancients were not unaware of the negative effects incest could have, which is why in virtually every known culture, brother/sister marriages where heavily frowned on. Only known historical exceptions were ancient Egyptian dynasties, out of extreme hubris.
Even some animals won't practice incest; mothers won't mate with males they recognize the scent as their offspring or litter mate. Others seek a different herd to find mates. Many of the animals who do practice incest seem to have builtin safeguards that avoid most of the problems inbreeding could cause.
Mormons don't practice incest
Perhaps not the Latter Day Saint Mormons, but the fundamentalist Mormons are on the slippery slope of incest.
ALL Mormons are members of (or at the least attend; being a "member" is different than simply "attending") the Church of the Latter Day Saints (LDS). The sect to which you are referring is the Fundamentalist LDS, which heavily practices polygamy and, yes, often there is incest involved, as well as young girls forced to marry old men. Mormons of the NOT Fundamentalist LDS sect (IOW, the vast majority of Mormons) are still indeed LDS.
(I have quite a few Mormons in my family. I also have seen too many documentaries. lol)
"A vast howling void where the wind whistles EEEEEWWWWWWWW!!!!"
Yes indeed!
My brother is a physically attractive person. He is very fit and works as a firefighter. He is also intersting and funny. All attractive qualities. But would I want to date him? Hayulll no! Do I fantasize about having sex with him? An even bigger HAYULLLL NO!!!!!!
I'm straight but would sooner have sex with ten unrelated women whom I found physically repulsive than to have sex with my brother.
This quesiton is soooo gross. You can tell this girl does not have a brother because if she did , this quesiton would totally gross her out, like it does me. My brother is one of my best friends, we hang out alot, I even go on dates with his girlfriend, we are super close. Alot of women like him and think he is cute. Tall and lean muscular. But to me he is not even a real person or human, he is a brother. I hope people would not think we were together ewwwwwwww is right. The thought of it makes went want to vomitt uncontrollably.
Well, I think the question asks whether or not a MALE could feel attracted to a sister. I've known friends who have thought their sisters were hot, but not sure if anything else occurred. Sure, girls may feel grossed out by their brothers (which all the comments seem to imply), but not many males seem to be offering their input.
