Curly hair is awesome. You can run your hands through it. It says, "I'm a wild, uninhibited person who doesn't play by society's rules." Imagine how boring it would it be if everybody had straight hair. I should know: I've had curly hair all my life. And not just slightly wavy hair-- I'm talking the kind of hair that starts to
look like Epstein
from Welcome Back, Kotter if I let it grow for too long. There was a hot minute (around age four, maybe) when I had straight, reddish
hair. Then genetics kicked in.
When I was young, I envied people with straight hair. So much less upkeep! You didn't have to worry about it growing out and getting all wavy and out of control. It could be long, short, medium length-- it didn't matter, because it would always be straight. As I got older, I realized that my curly hair made me unique. The girls I dated loved that they could run their hands through my thick, wavy hair. It set me apart.
Since when is straight hair the norm? It's all how you style it anyway. Look at all the celebrities with curly hair. Many women go to great lengths to curl their hair at home, or spend money at the hair salon. You don't have to worry about any of that because you're blessed with a thick head of gorgeous, curly locks.
It takes a while to accept that the things we see as flaws are actually strengths. Think of all the things that you can do with your hair that boring, straight-haired girls can't. You can wear it short, like super-hot indie singer St. Vincent. Or maybe try long, flowing ringlets like the gorgeous Christina Hendricks from Mad Men. (I can't get enough of that look.)
Plenty of guys like curly hair. Curls show that you have style, and a feisty personality. Honestly, though, if a guy rules you out because of your hairstyle, he's overly picky and will probably end up miserable and alone. If guys aren't noticing you, it probably has more to do with a lack of confidence than with the fact that you have curly hair.
Stand proud, my curly-haired friend! Don't let the "straight hairs" get you down. We're in this together. Curlies represent!

Curly hair is so beautiful
Are you kidding!!? Curls rock! Mine have gotten so much attention and love from people I don't know why I even bought a straightener. And as for curly headed guys=MMHHHHHMMM!!!
Thanks, Kate. You give curly-headed guys hope.
For sure, hun. Major turn on, at least for me.
:D thank you SO MUCH for posting this. i have insanely curly hair, kind of emmy rossum style, but to top it all off, it's red. lets just say there's NO way i can hide in a crowd. even though i get complements, i've always been a little self conscious about it because of the way it makes me stand out... it's so awesome to hear that guys think curly hair is fun!
I think people need to understand it's not hair, or any other physical attributes that really draw guys in or at least the right kind of guys, it's having the confidence to be comfortable with whatever you have. You can be absolutely gorgeous but if you have no self confidence and always doubting then it'll get you no where.
What what?!?! Curly hair rocks!
I think that hair type, for girls, is one of those 'the grass is always greener' situations. I have straight hair, but I LOVE curls. I curled my hair every day for a year and half not so long ago.
In the end though, I think everyone should just embrace what they've got.
KENDRA RIGHT!!! You can be a 10, but if you have a bad attitude that can take you down to a 2. It's how you rock what you got.
