Do you think guys really notice the difference between girls with or without their makeup? We ladies can always tell but does it really matter to guys?

I don't think guys really care about whether their woman wears make-up. A touch of eye shadow, lipstick, or beauty putty is neither a deal maker or breaker. For the most part, we don't even notice it. If you're wearing glitter, you're probably in college. And I'm not hitting on you, because I'm a grown ass man. But chances are the college guys don't even know you're sparkling.

Of course, I've known when who spackle on the cake batter like The Joker in The Dark Knight, only without the subtlety. That, actually, is a bit of a deal breaker. But a heart breaking one: beauty doesn't need a paint job. And if we're dating you, we think your gorgeous, without the chemical artifice.

I think wearing make-up is one of those things that women fool themselves into thinking men want, when in fact, they're wearing it for other women. Maybe the pressure to look gorgeous in a mass, pre-defined, conformist way makes women hyper-critical of each other. Make-up is a means by which to ward off criticism from their own gender.

One reason I love morning sex is because I love waking up to the woman I'm dating's glowing, grease-free face. It's like my own personal sunrise. Not breath, mind you. Everybody brush their teeth.

Love your answer. =)

Can't even explain why, it's just .... flattering.

Thank you for reminding me that my boyfriend has seen me at my "ugliest" and still thinks I'm absolutely breathtaking.

Molly

Nice since I missed makeup 101 & my "makeup bag" consists of a tube of Burt's Bees, mascara + a bit of concealer. BUT I think most men would notice if their woman showed up to a nice dinner sans "beauty putty." I can imagine them saying something redonculous like "you look tired" which is the response I get from my guy friends when I go without any makeup.

And hey! Tsk tsk for generalizing women in college as all 20 years old. You must recognize that for several reasons (many economic) there's a whole new slew of sexy grown ass women in the classroom these days, most of whom are just as confused by body glitter as you! lol

I must agree with Molly here. Guys just think they don't care about makeup, but they actually do. The "you look tired" or "are you doing okay?" (in the concerned voice) is usually a sign that you don't look as hot as you normally do and they don't understand that it's because you just didn't do your makeup.

However, JDV does have a lot of great points here. When it comes to your real honey, I think he'll be able to recognize made up you and not made up you, and he'll love you for both.

Well said RP.

My boyfriend actually prefers me without it because he thinks it takes too long to put on. He swears he can't tell the difference anyways and can't we just go already lol. So I just put it on for special occasions when I feel like it and tell him to go watch tv until I'm done.

Seriously though, I think men probably prefer some concealer over a pimple, but otherwise, do they really stare at our faces anyways? My guy is usually more interested in what's below the chin than in whats on it.

most guys like woman without her make up they dont like it when women put too much makeup

Oh boy, You're a grown-ass man in his late 30s, way to good for us college kids. Too many years of life experience to count. By the way, I don't think I've worn glitter since I was 12, but thanks for the sweeping and condescending generalization. Many of us are retarded, but some aren't. I'm sure I sound defensive but I'm getting tired of being lumped in as a stupid person.

I think and have had my men friends say that when a women is in her cozies or work out clothes it is nice to see a ponytail and a fresh face...but when she is going to work or out on the town...some special effects by way of sublte make-up go a long way in enhancing our natural beauty ladies...

MaggieG

Whoa, Claire. I'm usually one that gets defensive about generalizations, but I think you misunderstood the comment about glitter. RP doesn't seem to be saying that all college girls wear glitter. It sounded to me like he was saying that if the woman is wearing glitter, she's probably college-aged (youthful, impulsive). There's a big difference in those statements. If I understood his intent correctly, I could understand why a 30-something guy wouldn't want to go out with a girl wearing glitter. He's probably ready to settle down. She's probably not ready. Why waste each other's time?

Megan

I figured this awhile ago and now refuse to waste my money on it. Also, I think guys like it more since they are seeing the real you and not the mask you put on to outshine other women.

Besides, my boobs more than make up for it.

Laje Kahr

Yeah. I've always said the best make up job is the one you don't even notice. And bad ones are gross. Clumps of stuff in the eye lashes, black lines around the eyes, powdery faces, weird red permanent blushes, plastic looking lips are all gross.
No make is just fine and often better.

However, if you are being out there and fun, go for it! Just keep in mind that it doesn't make you more physically attractive to have pink eyelids with a little Egyptian curl on the side, but it does make your personality interesting!
