Does applying makeup make a woman shallow?
Does purchasing designer jeans?
Does purchasing designer jeans that are made to look scrappy and worn out?
Is getting a pedicure shallow?
Buying an Audi over a Toyota?
Preferring Prosciutto to Bologna? Coke to generic?
Is it shallow to get an $800 Golden Retriever from a breeder versus picking up a needy pup from the pound?
Is it shallow to never date out of your ethnicity or religious circle?
Does it sound shallow to say "I only read best sellers, or I only read Russian literature?" Is it shallow to only date guys with nice teeth? Blonde hair? Nice pecs?
Chicks with 28 inch waists?
Girls raised in cities?
Women who speak fluent Italian?
Is it shallow to want a bigger wang? Softer hands? Thicker hair, stronger nails, harder abs? Longer eyelashes? Is it only shallow if you spend over $600 on your skin? And over $300 on your hair? Is it shallow to wear a push up bra? To get a boob job?
As you can see (if you're still reading this) any of the above can be, yes shallow and no shallow. It depends, right? It's completely subjective. And, often changes based on context. I can decide for myself what constitutes shallow. I can decide what I think makes 'shallow' for others, but by and large - who cares, right?
If getting your nose done won't put you in debt, won't result in your eyes and ears falling off your skull, and will make you feel good about yourself, isn't that the end of it? Beauty is in the nose of the beholder, after all?
And at the end of the day you will still be you, but now with a modified no$e. Is it shallow to worry about that?
What he said!
You know, I am not even sure what 'being shallow' means anymore, it's been so tossed around so much and used as a PC tool.
At one point, I think it meant to decide whether or not you were going to get to know a person, try to befriend them, or judging people (including yourself), strictly based on outward accoutrements (yeah I know probably not the best word to use).
To decide for yourself, and only you alone can decide this, if you are shallow, ask yourself: Do you think you're a great person who would love to change their nose, or, do you hate yourself because you don't like your nose? Do you find yourself not liking to be around people with bad noses (like me lol), or, does is simply not matter to you? Your answers will tell you what you want to know.
The asker contradicted herself.
"I never judge people by their looks and I honestly don't think that looks are that important. I just have a feature that I don't like and I want to change it"
HONEY, if you have a feature you dont like and want to change it, then that means looks ARE important. Why would you want to change it then?
Admit it, LOOKS do matter. Thats why we're obsessed with beauty, celebrities, makeup, clothes, etc. We all want to be part of it. And plastic surgery has made that possible.
It doesnt make you shallow, it shows that youre insecure. And human. And you have the right to do whatever you want to YOUR body.
Go ahead and do it! Nobody cares anymore. The jeans and expensive puppies are a little too much however, but the nose job is alright.
Good for you! Do it. I know, there is so much pressure to not do it, but I agree that at the end of the day, it's a little nose job. I think everyone should spend time worrying about the world's bigger issues and less about dumb stuff like who is getting a nose job or their teeth whitened, or whatever.
:) Who decides that it's cool to get tattoos all over your skin, but a nose job isn't cool? You just have to be comfortable with your decision. There will always be judgements all around, so do what you like.
