Does skin tone turn a guy off? Since I was born, I've never been able to tan. So my skin tone is pale. More pale than the vampires in those movies. I think I haven't been real productive with guys cause there's a tan girl next to me. Help?

What do you mean, there's a tan girl next to you? Every time you're around a guy she's next to you? Are you a conjoined twin? Can't both of you fit in the tanning booth?

Different guys are drawn to different skin tones. Some prefer tan girls, some prefer China-doll white. Pale skin is not universally repellent.

You are what you are. Embrace it. Or get thee to a tanning bed if it will make you feel better.

Thanks for the question.

I'm freaky white as well and I hate it, but even being ridiculously self-conscious about my skin and the brunt of every sun-related joke imaginable, I haven't had trouble finding a boyfriend. Seriously. You're not destined to spend your life alone or anything like that, just because you're not tan. And tanning beds do not work. I understand. Working outside has helped me a little bit and I sometimes use Jergen's gradual tanning lotion because it doesn't turn me weird colors, but honestly, that's a hassle. No one has time for that shit. This is your SKIN COLOR you're talking about--it's not a big nose or crooked teeth or something you can run out and surgically alter. This is 100% of your body and you. can't. change. it. Are you going to worry forever? That won't do anything but waste your time and make you feel like crap. So stop. Do you really think guys are walking around saying, "Man, she's really pretty, but I couldn't date her unless she was a few shades darker." Here's a hint: they're not!!! So relax :)

I'm very pale myself (like my legs are almost blue) and I've never really had problems getting men after highschool. maybe it's because I like my pale skin and freckles(yup redhead). something to say about confidence. I've had guys who comment on how much they love the ivory skin and the adorable freckles. the only negative comments I've gotten about my skin was from females and one complete douchbag who also said I needed to change my hair because it was ugly and outdated.

honestly, if some guy isn't dating you just because of your skin tone, you don't want someone that shallow anyway!

I too am very very pale (I have never lost the "who is pale-er" contest) and I also have trouble finding guys to date but I I seriously doubt my skin color is a significant reason. There might be the occasional guy who feels strongly about wanting someone more tan but there will also be people attracted to the pale and less skin-damaged skin.

People are becoming more accepting of different skin types. I'm pretty sure that porcelain-skinned Emma Stone and Christina Hendricks are doing ok for themselves.

I think super pale white skin is only a problem for men. Well, it's been a problem for me but then it's been hard to tell if my skin complexion has been the problem or my face, but I have gotten comments on how pathetically pale my skin is. And I don't tan, unlike my old man, who can maintain a natural golden tan.
I really don't think your complexion will be a problem unless you let it. So don't let it lol.

I'm incredibly pale but it's never ever been repellant to anyone. Most guys seem relieved that I don't leave an orange trace on sheets and that I'm not actively pursuing cancer. The only complaint I have is that I have yet to be able to find a makeup that I don't have to blend with white to get my shade. But it's never been a problem with men.

I'm not pale, but I highly doubt my skin color attracts or not guys. I don't really think guys see me and go like: "wow that's a not-very-pale skin color." If guys choose the tan girl as you said, I don't think it's bacause of their skin. I looove guys who are pale; the blue-er the better. So don't live your life thinking tan girls are better than you; they're not. There's one guy for you out there...
