Poking... I was never 100% sure about that either. I think it means that the poker wants to talk to you right away, although if you wanted to talk, you would be on chat, no? So if you're not on chat and someone wants to talk, they poke you. I think. Hell, I don't know. Every time I get Facebook figured out, they go and change it.

I always figured it was a way of reminding someone you exist with minimal effort. In a friendly or flirty way, it's a way if keeping them on your mind and relevant. Send him a message, if he replies in a flirty way, chances are it was a flirty poke

I remember when I was newer to facebook over 4 years ago and it was really easy to accidentally poke people. One time I accidentally poked a male cousin of mine and the next day saw my friend joined a group called stop poking each other and just have sex already. I never clued in to the fact that is was flirtatious before reading that and then was like Ahh I just poked my cousin! Ahh his name is Jan Micheal! Broke up Jan of 2011 and have had no contact whatsover. Then last week out of the blue I get a friggin poke. I blocked him straightaway.
