Maybe he means it but maybe he doesn't. Who knows, but instead of wondering what you should do, you should just sit tight. Stop thinking about your play here. You have none.
You take his lead. If he's interested in fixing anything or trying again, he'll let you know, but you let him do all of the work.
If he wants to see you, he'll let you know. Make him prove he isn't playing games and take your cues from his actions and words.
