The idea of "league" can feel mean, but it also has its place. Alex Rodriguez doesn't play in your softball league because he's out of your league. He'll hit a line drive and break your face.
I couldn't get into Yale because I'm way too dumb (Out of my academic league).
As such, some guys and girls are out of our respective leagues. There are discernible criteria for this. A simple 1-10 scale will do. If there is more than a 3-point spread between you and this Super Dude, you are in fact out of your league in this regard.
1. Face
2. Body
3. Career
4. Dress/Style
5. Wit
6. Creativity
7. Social skills/ network
8. Overall Charm
BUT PLEASE NOTE: It doesn't mean Super Dude won't go for you. It just means you have your work cut out for you.
Lastly, there 2 are things that can help equalize the above 1-8.
1. Cultural differences: If he's from another country he might be operating on a different scale, and your Face Level 6, actually translates to a Mexican man as a Face Level 8.
2. Ageism: If you are significantly younger than this Super Dude, you can automatically add two points to your scores. Age is an aphrodisiac and equalizer. Men are just that way.
This is true. I'm like a 6-7 for most white men but according to many a brown man I am a 9-10 (their numbers! Not mine!).
I think American and white men have higher standards. I blame culture and the lies tv, movies, and magazines sell.

But then again I'm sure I could be a ten if I dropped 15 pounds, got a fake tan, wear a ton of makeup, wear crazy clothing and shoes, and die my hair blond.
Women have that ability. Men not so much. But men are human too and a lot of them are compassionate people who really would rather be with a 6-7 who made them laugh than a 10 who drives him nuts.

How about living by this logic, "It is what it is". If someone is into you theres no limit to what they will do to get to know you better. Why would you even consider wanting to be with someone who uses a scale to judge whose worthy of being around them?

I'm in an loving, close, passionate relationship with
my boyfriend and we are not "in the same league." what I see it as is people need to be more focused on the other persons soul (personality, charms, quirks, talents) and less on a ratig that other people give them new are really superficial as a culture, and I can't see this leading to a true relationship.
Baloney. Attraction is an unpredictable thing. I don't believe in leagues, and looks are overrated.
agreed. But it seems like its more unpredictable for women than men; and it works out in men's favor. Several guys have gotten me through their wit and charm. I never initially found them attractive.
I believe that people may seem out of our league at first. People seem to forget that you need to be attracted to the person you are dating. But I don't mean just looks, you need to be attracted to their life goals, career goals, intelligence, etc. We have been in situations where we met someone who had a great personality, the type of guy or gal you could see yourself with; but unfortunately you just did not find them attractive at all. Like Amit said, if someone at first seems out of league you just need to make sure your game is on point, so they don't shut you down right away, but get to know the real you.
