I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused.
Let me get this right, your boyfriend prides himself on his body and spends a lot of time in the gym, yet he's...fat?
How does that happen? Does gym really mean something else and he's priding himself in a Fat Bastard from Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me kind of way? I'm just having some trouble really understanding how somebody is a gym rat but fat.
Is he just delusional? Perhaps that's your angle. You say, "look baby, I'm not sure if your gym regimen is working. Your belly seems to be going nowhere but your pecks are getting firm, which is great! But the belly, baby. Perhaps a crunch of 2,000 would help nex time you're at the gym."
I think a little blunt honesty is the way to go. Reason being, if your guy is delusional then short of placing a mirror in front of him and forcing him to pose in a manner in which he can truly see his belly, nothing will work unless he gets that raw uncut opinion and truth. Plus, you really need to understand what it is that he's doing in the gym if his belly persists. Now, if he's just now starting to go to the gym it's one thing. But if he's been going for a year and nothing's coming out of it. You might want to tell him that chubby yoga is not the way to go.
It was written.
most guys focus on upper body workouts because the goal is to wear too small shirts and show off bulging biceps. and some guys like to cool down after an intense testosterone session with a refreshing twelve pack of beer. but still, unless he is the most dedicated alcoholic/ fitness guru in the world, it's strange that even bending down to pick up the weights on a regular basis hasn't made a difference. are you sure his many hours spent at the gym are actually... spent at the gym?
My ex-bf was the exact same way. He kept going on about how he had "muscles now" when he started going to the gym and come to find out, when I saw him, he still looked the same with no visible changes that MY eye could see. Maybe it's his own self-perception. He might have noticed a change in, like, his biceps and is now making a big deal out of that, ignoring his huge belly area.
Plus, when some people "work out" for the first time they get a little air-headed. Two push ups at the gym is like running three miles or something.
