I am a total bibliophile and have been single for a year but I am ready to find myself a bibliophile to date. I'm 20 and at a good college but it seems impossible to find an intelligent guy. Where are all the bibliophiles hiding other than the book stores and the libraries?

Why not try author readings? Keep an eye out for readings at your local indie or chain bookstore. They're good for mingling, and often offer free wine and cheese. At the very least, you'll go home buzzed on Merlot and gouda.

Many libraries and bookstores have book clubs and book swaps. Any place where you can chat with likeminded folks (and score free books) is a good thing.

Of course, you're likely to find a cute bibliophile on the World Wide Interwebs. The dating site Alikewise.com matches users based on their favorite books. (Read an account of one woman's experience on the site over on Lemondrop.) There are many dating sites that will match you with someone with similar interests.

Writing classes or workshops are also great for meeting people. Perhaps you've always wanted to write the Great American Zombie Unicorn Novel or dust off your embarrassing high school poetry. Not only will you meet fellow literary buffs, you just might come out with a bestseller.

Book nerds can also be found at indie movie screenings, comedy shows, Jonathan Coulton concerts, or anywhere else geeks congregate. Hit up book fairs or conventions--both great for shopping for books and meeting potential dates. Keep pursuing your interests, and go to as many social events and parties as you can, and you'll increase your chances of meeting someone.

Finally, why not start a book club of your own? Encourage friends to bring pals and coworkers. Choose a different theme every month (celebrity biography, post-apocalyptic fiction) to attract a diverse crowd. Post a notice on Facebook, in local online book forums, or at your local indie bookstore encouraging new folks to attend. And don't forget the wine and cheese! Book nerds never turn down free wine and cheese.

If you want to find book nerds, start hanging out with people in the publishing industry! You can find great events through mediabistro or looking around in NYC or LA. If not, I would also suggest checking out online book communities like GoodReads, LibraryThing, Shelfari, and similar sites. They're full of people who love and want to talk about books.
