This guy is pure slime. In front of his wife and kid??? His poor wife. She shouldn't put up with that. I hope she leaves him. I'm sure this wasn't a one-time thing either. It's bad enough to hit on you when they're not around, but to do it when his family is right there makes him the lowest form of man on the planet. Actually, I don't think he qualifies as a man. I would say he's a slug, but slugs actually have some use in the world.
That is such an awkward situation. Normally you could tell him where to stick his wedding ring, but you don't want to make a scene in front of the kid. There's nothing worse for a kid than seeing your dad humiliated, even though that is what this guy deserves. (He deserves to have his nards snipped with a garden shear actually.) No, the best thing you can do in that situation is leave. Don't listen to him, or blush and let it happen. Say excuse me in as curt a way as possible and give him "the stare of a million daggers" that says "You are a total scumbag." Let them sort out their drama. Obviously that marriage is a mess. She shouldn't be with a guy who would be so blatantly disrespectful.
Next time this happens, take the woman aside and tell her to visit GuySpeak.com. We'll set her straight!
Has this ever happened to you? How do you handle a married guy's advances?

God, sadly it's happening now. The guy is my bosses contractor and a I feel I can't mention it to my boss. I ignore the guy for the most part...he's a creep.
It's happened to me, but in my situation it's not really.. as bad? From my point of view, anyways. I'm 19, and work part-time as a cashier. Sometimes older men come into the store with their wives and kind of flirt with me as they're paying their things, but I don't really see it as 'getting hit on'.. Because obviously I'm way too young for them (this has happened many times since I started working there, ie ever since I had JUST turned 18, and we're talking like 40-50 year olds..), and they're obviously married, so I view it as just kind of.. giving me a playful (yet creepy) compliment?
It doesn't make it any less awkward though. I never know how to react, so I just.. stand there and smile awkwardly.
But I don't see it as THAT disrespectful to their wives. If it were someone my age with their girlfriend, then yeah, I would tell him to f--- off.
It's happened, i ignored him like he didn't exist and complimented his wife on her children.
It happened to me at a club but I didn't know the guy was married until a friend from his group told me. He had given me his card and asked me out. I marched over to him, card in hand and said, "are you married?" to which he replied, "do you see a ring on my finger?" I then said, "that's not an answer" and he said, "what difference does it make?" at which point I flung his card at him and said, "you're a dog" and walked away. Any man that would cheat on his wife with you will surely cheat on you as well. No respect for marriage, women or himself, for that matter.
Happenned just a couple of days ago at a coffee shop. This guy was old enough to be my dad, although he was fairly good looking. Kept staring at me in the most undressing manner possible and was starting to freak me out. He didn't even stop when I look archly at the wedding ring on his finger. Finally, I just got up and changed seats. Yuck.
ugh! i had the same sort of thing happen to me - i went into a furniture store and the man was all over me - touching me on my hand and fingers and practically effing me with his eyes... yeah his WIFE and daughter were in the office right there off the showroom floor and had the audascity to tell me right there in the showroom that "if we got together, he would hook me up with my furniture"... then to make matters worse he went through his files and STOLE my info from my lay-a-way form and started texting and calling me!! i went to the police department and filed a complaint and when i went in to pay off the bed i took a handgun and a friend with me. i have yet to contact the BBB or his wife - but if he tried to contact me again - oh its on like donkey kong!!
