You're not too old to have kids. Don't forget that woman in India who gave birth to triplets at the age of 66. While there is a higher risk for health problems for both the mother and child, plenty of women over the age of 35 have perfectly healthy kids. Also, why do your friends act like adoption is bad thing? Or artificial insemination, for that matter? Isn't there a Jennifer Aniston movie coming out about that very subject? That one where someone switches the sperm donor cups or something, and hilarious antics no doubt ensue? No offense, but these are some real jerks you hang out with.
Plenty of men want to wait to have children. Everyone has their own path. Who says you have to be married with kids by the time you're 35? The people who would say that to you are narrow-minded. They are following the stereotypical thinking that any unmarried woman in her '30s must resort to adopting a baby from China or using a turkey baster. Didn't Sex and the City put a stop to that sort of thinking almost a decade ago?
There's nothing wrong with starting a family later in life. If anything, you're more ready for a family now than you would have been at, say, 26, or even 32. And of course guys will want to marry you. 36 isn't old! It's not like you're 75. Focus on finding someone you love and care about, and the rest will fall into place. When the time is right, you'll be ready to focus on starting a family. Plus, you'll have the wisdom and life experience necessary to raise a great kid (or kids).
Don't listen to the judgmental busy bodies. Get out there and meet someone. Sign up for a dating website. Go to parties, work functions, anywhere you can meet people. Have faith; you'll find someone. In the meantime, enjoy your single life. Also, find some nicer friends.

I met my husband at 36, had a child with him at 39 and got married to him at 41. Hell no, it is not too late.
If you talk to your doctor about this issue, you will realize that you have a limited amount of time in which to conceive. That is the reality of being a woman. That is why people are asking you the question this way. I know 2 women, one is turning 38 and has been trying to get pregnant for 2 years with no luck. She knows that she was fertile when she was younger because she had a pregnancy which she terminated. She is now looking in to invitro after trying fertility drugs with no luck. I know another who is 37 and started trying to get pregnant at 35 with no luck. Her doctor says that is likely related to her age. An additional factor is that the risk of problems such as downs syndrome and autism significantly increase once the mother hits 35 (in fathers risk factors such as autism can increase once the father is 50 and over). You need to talk to your doctor because unless you meet a man and start trying to conceive fairly soon, the odds are against you that you will be able to conceive naturally. I am not trying to scare you, just letting you know. You really need to have a long discussion with your gyno or medical doctor about this issue. Most celebrities that have conceived at an older age are using either in vitro (hence the high instance of twins in Hollywood), a donor egg (meaning the child is not theirs biologically), or have had their eggs frozen (although the actual rate of live births from frozen eggs is very low).
