Nobody knows when the world will end. Not the Mayans, not Nostradamus, not the Psychic Friends Network. It could end in 2012. It could end tomorrow. It doesn't really matter, because whenever it ends, life will still be short.
They say you should live each day like it's your last, so for some, 2012 must feel like a reprieve. I say no matter when the world ends, there's no reason to waste time on someone who doesn't treat you well. If you still love this guy and want him back despite his crappy boyfriend skills, then that's one thing, but taking him back just because you think the world is about to end is--no offense meant--silly.
Of course, I don't think you should take him back at all, but that's your business. Me, I would rather die alone than with someone who treats me like shit. If he's that bad a boyfriend, he won't be there when you're dying, anyway; he'll be looking at porn on the computer or playing XBox or drinking beer outside with his friends and pissing in the yard.
Stop worrying about when the world will end and live for today. Today you can do better than him. Today you are alive. Cut the cord and find someone worthy of what precious time you do have left, because you never know when it will end.
I don't think the world will end in 2012. Yes, all these things are happening around the globe, but we shouldn't live in fear because of it. If anything, like WA said, it's a stark reminder for us not to waste our time and do the best we can because none of us know when the world's going to end.
Go find yourself a better man. You have less than two years left to do it if you believe in the whole end of the world theory... And the rest of your life to do it if you don't. Either way, you deserve better than to be treated like sh*t and you know it.
Good luck!
I do want to die alone!
Actually I was just discussing this with a professor of mine (I study history) He said he used to be a journalist but after a certain while everything seems to be the same thing over and over again and he got bored of simply reporting it. I looked into history and yes: it does repeat itself. For instance the whole Egypt debacle looks a lot like the Nike Rebellion in Ancient Rome. My point is: this stuff happens all the time, I wouldn't take it seriously. What I would take seriously is the way we're squandering the earth away, and live a little ecologically friendlier ;)
Great answer and I love that you used R.E.M. lyrics as a tag. You just earned 50 bonus points for using that awesome song.
Thanks. I spent a lot of time in Athens, GA.
Holy shit, you do?! I go to UGA. Awww, Cary I hope to serve you something to eat one of these days!! You must be the one that lives in the ATL. :-)
That's how my cousins got pregnant, by keeping their shitty boyfriends since the world was going to end in 2000. Eleven years and some kids later, the world is still going on, they still live with douchebags and they still complain about said douches.
a high school boy tries this to get into a girl's pants in independence day! when the aliens are descending, he tells his girlfriend that since the world is ending, they might as well bang. i guess he was on to something...i hope aliens aren't real, too.
First of all, WE ALL only have a short amount of time on this planet, and no one knows when we will meet our eventual fate. You should live your life to the fullest and in the moment and enjoy every second as best you can.
No one should spend any amount of time with a "shitty" bf or any kind of friend for that matter. If you died tomorrow, how much would that suck that you just spent your last day pining over some A-Hole who treats you like junk? No good.
Loneliness is a self inflicted problem, IMO. Take care of yourself, find people that respect you and that you respect, and enjoy your last 12 months, 12 years or 12 decades. You will be glad you did!
Right on, Sarah. You said it better than I did. Perfect.
"Loneliness is the poverty of self; solitude is the richness of self." ~ May Sarton
We all die alone. The most we can do is fill the time that we have with good people, otherwise there literally is no point.
Unless you're religious. Which I'm not. So, oblivion it is.
