I used to be extremely intimidating. No one messed with me and i wasn't afraid of anybody. But then a couple years ago i got hurt in my karate class and then all of a sudden my fire was gone. I feel like every ounce of confidence is gone esp with guys. I am weak and scared now. I want to feel like myself again. Help?

This happens a lot. To guys, at least, though it seems to a lesser extent with gals. Not because it is a sex based thing, but because guys tend to get their as*es whooped more often, and tie self esteem much more into physical capability.

True power, courage and confidence comes from within.

It does not depend on your fearsomeness, your skills in combat or indeed your size. I could take you into any hospital in the country and show you 10 year olds with more courage and grace than you or I will ever possess. Take you to any country on Earth and show you men, women and children who know the one thing that you need to know in your gut and not just your head. Trying and failing can often be fatal. Not trying simply kills everything good about you, if it doesn't kill you outright.
To give you one recent example from this site - read this. A girl who is simply getting on with what needs doing, because it needs doing. The sheer guts and determination of that young lady makes me feel small and pathetic.

I am assuming you got back on the horse as soon as you had healed enough, rather than hiding away. Injuries happen in sports, and especially in martial arts. It is part of the cost of doing business in that game.

Your fire is still there. Banked, burning as no more than coals now maybe, but still ready to blaze up if needed.
Your strength is still there. Both the mental and physical toughness are still hiding within your skin.
Your confidence? OK, that is shot at the moment, but you still got your courage, right? That is an acceptable substitute for confidence.
And scared? Welcome to life. We are all scared of something.

Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

A wise man said that 2500 years ago. It is a bitter lesson, but one we all must learn.
