The Spanish, who's entire culture is built on macho BS and who know a thing or two about bragging, have a saying that roughly translates to "Brag to me and I'll tell you your failings."
If his mouth was writing cheques that his performance couldn't cash, yeah, you did the right thing. Hurtful to him, probably, but do you really care? When a guy claims to be a master carpenter, but can't drive a nail, that's a con-job and you should be upset.
His ego will recover - eventually.
I do hope your next sex for fun guy talks less and acts more.
i really like that line, if his mouth is writing cheques his performance can't cash you did the right thing. i agree. and completely off topic its always nice but not often to see others spell cheques the same way i do lol
In Canada it is the way we were taught to spell it.. well at least most of us anyway. I have noticed that Americans usually spell it check.
Actually, I don't see of hear it often anymore since electronic banking has made cheques almost obsolete.
canuck here ;-)
woot, Canada power :D let's colour some cheques, shall we? ;) haha
I have learned that if you have to tell someone how good you are, you probably aren’t. Those who can’t talk.., those who do, show it.
"Brag to me and I'll tell you your failings."? Don't know that saying. "Fanfarronea y te diré en qué fallas"? Or something of the sort?
It's "Dime de qué presumes y te diré lo que careces"
That is the one!
I assumed it was Mexican. People here know that someone who brags is worthless, so we pretty much filter them out or don't believe what they say. We use this phrase to shut them up.
