I watch a lot of CSI, SVU etc. and in one of the recent episodes they mentioned how it was impossible to roofie/date rape a guy because they wouldn't get it up. is this true? because if it is I've accidentally caught my BFF's BF lying He said he lost his Vcard to being date-raped. for her sake, I hope SVU is wrong.

Now, I am not gonna say they are lying, cause they usually try not to. Yes, they compress an two week process down into 3 minutes in a magical machine, and sacrifice accuracy for drama, but in this case they are talking out of some scriptwriters a*s, according to everything I know (don't ask) about rohypnol.

All a guy needs to get it up is lack of inhibitions and adequate blood pressure. A mild sedative that induces amnesia and compliance is not going to have a giant effect on his ability to get an erection unless there is an underlying medical condition like low blood pressure. In fact it is likely to increase his chances by killing any performance anxiety! It is perfectly possible for a guy to have sex and not remember a thing about it. Ask any guy (pretty much every guy) who has had drunk sex.

Guys can get raped by women, if we use the definition of rape as "sex against their will while the balance of their mind is disturbed." - the usual definition for someone who has been the victim of a date rape drug. It happens more than you might reallize.

SUV and CSI are entertainment. Not science. Treat them as such.

That is oh so true. I laugh every time I see the movie The Rock, where Nick Cage slams an auto injector of atropine into his chest to save him from VX Nerve Agent. The scene where the room fills up with VX gas is just as comical. In real life it just doesn’t go down that way. Fun to watch though…

It definitely does happen. Someone very close to me had that happen, and I don't think he's realised it was rape.
It's very sad. Make sure you're supportive if/when your boyfriend brings it up again, I can't imagine what he must be going through!

Katie

Err, just realised you said your BFF's bf. So maybe urge her to be supportive!!
