I think it all depends on the tattoo. You're right, its almost odd to find a woman (or a man for that matter) without a tatter these days. Everybody has them. While I don't know that anybody would think that tattoos are the mark of classiness, I definitely don't think anybody would assume, necessarily, would place a woman in the trashy category.
Now of course, this all depends on the tats involved. For once, if a woman has a tattoo that says, "Everybody should drop dead right now. Smile, you're on candid camera," then I'll go out on a limb and say that, yes, that's not going to go over well.
Come to think of it though, I'm partial to women with tattoos. For one, they are conversation starters. Interesting tats always open the door for conversations that you weren't going to have in the first place. Similarly, they might let you know everything you need to know about this particular woman. Let's say you are really religious and you come across a woman with a tattoo that says, "Satan is my homeboy", then chances are you are not a good match.
Anyway, today, most men don't have any beef with a woman who has tats. It's just part of the culture. Now it all depends on what the tatter says. So if you have some, flaunt them and be free and womanly with the world. Yay.
I've talked to a friend of mine (28 year old guy) who has a couple of tatoos himself but says he doesn't like tatoos on women. He says he "likes smooth unmarked skin, it's so sexy" and "its rather sacriligious to mark a woman's body". I think he's one of those people in the "tatoos are graffiti on the body" group. I offered his opinion because I feel like it doesn't have that bias againt tattoos in general since he has them himself. Hope this helps.... although if you have them i guess it's a little too late for you to get with my friend lol. From the general consensus of my guy friends, they would prefer if ladies didnt have them but will accept women who have chosen to get them if they're actually cool tattoos. So there ya go.

This is a question of individual tastes; it's like asking 'what do men think of blondes?' or 'what do men think of women who listen to indie music?' There is no solid answer, because what one man thinks is trashy might be sexy as hell to another.
What it should really come down to is this: Do you like your own tattoos? Are you happy in your own skin, be it inked or untouched? If so, than to hell with what any particular guy likes, because if he can't see past the colours on your skin he's not worth your time.
