It will stop a certain 'type' of man from hitting on them but not all men.

I'm over weight and i still get hit on plenty :P like RP pointed out, it's all about confidence. confidence is the sexiest thing a women can wear.

go out feeling lik crap and feeling like you look horrible its not going to be a sucessful night. but if you go out feeling like you look amazing and knowing you're great, you'll have a good night.

don't worry about the guys who don't hit on you because they're not attracted. even if you were in perfect shape there would still be guys who weren't into you. everyone has different taste in people.

I've had times where I've had 3-4 guys all trying to get dates. heck right now I'm dating a guy who is in AWESOME shape (I'm talking built, with a six pack and big arms) he doesn't seem to mind at all that I'm bigger. I've had my fair share of dates in the past and only one jerk face has complained about my weight. but he was a loser i found out pretty quickly.

If a guy is a little over weight does it stop you from noticing him? Think about it.., you probably noticed his personality & smile first. I do.

Im overweight, with an attractive face so I get hit on all the time. Like ALL THE TIME, so of course guys are not turned off. I think maybe if your obese, or have low self-esteem will it really bother guys. Again, overweight is different from being obese. Like Teakany...I probably can get a guy with six pack, but Im after the brains yall. Smart guy are too unsure of themselves to hit on us, shame.

Well, look at it this way. 2/3 of adults are now overweight, so the numbers are on your side. I know plenty of guys who only go for slim, in-shape girls, but that's just their preference. Some guys like a little more "cushion for the pushin'", and regardless, like I already said, chances are the guys you'll be dealing with will also be overweight.

Sorry, but I'm about to play Devil's Advocate, here. If it really bothers you/affects your self-esteem, you could always lose weight. I know a lot of people don't want to hear that, but it's really only common sense. If you don't like something about yourself, change it! That said, if you're happy at your size and attract men that you are attracted to, then you're golden. Just do what makes you happy.

Also, I'd like to point out that this issue works both ways. I've had guys in the past complain that I'm "too skinny." Since I've developed all the way now, I don't get that too often these days, but still. I remember being like, Seriously?? You just can't win in this world. SOMEone out there is always going to think you're too big or too small, but luckily, there are always people out there who think you're just right. It's all about finding them.

my ex wasn't overly attractive, but I still noticed him. His looks weren't what broke us up though, it was his being a work a holic that did. :(

YES men will hit on you, ask you out, have sex with you, date you, kiss you, EVERYTHING with you if you're a plump girl. Not all men will because no one is everyone's type, but a lot of men love plus size girls! I'm a size 22 and I get hit on constantly. Almost every time I am out. Size is usually not a factor with attraction these days with thick girls being so mainstream (Beyonce, J Lo, my imaginary girlfriend Adele, etc).

Well, I might get hate for this, but whatever. I used to be slightly overweight. I lost a bunch of weight over the years, and am now pretty slim (like 5'8 & size ~6). And the difference of how much I get hit on is VERY noticeable.
However... there are 2 factors to be considered:
1) Confidence. I'm a lot more confident now. Being overweight, FOR ME, was a product of an unhealthy lifestyle and general indifference/self-esteem issues. It didn't suit me, my body is not made to be bigger, and so I didn't have any body confidence. I wore baggy black clothes all the time. I hid. That was probably more unattractive than my body was. (sidenote: despite my higher self-esteem, I don't think I could ever be 100% confident with my body at a bigger, unnatural size, and if you feel the same way, then by all means, do something (healthy!) about it.)
2) The guys who hit on me now that wouldn't when I was bigger, even if I WAS more confident, aren't the type of guys I would necessarily want to date anyways. I understand everyone has different preferences when it comes to body types, but being super shallow isn't attractive.

I've never minded plump girls as long as they are reasonably pretty. There's a delivery girl who delivers supplies to my office now and then. She's got extra poundage, but she's blonde and I think she has one of the prettiest faces I've ever seen. She has this sweet Texas tourguide accent and is absurdly cheerful. There seems to be some attraction between us, but I'm married and a good boy. If I wasn't, I'd have asked her out by now. I've dated several chunky girls, and in fact my first girlfriend (she was 12, I was 13) was plump. Unfortunately I find heavy girls to be very insecure and quite often have anger issues, so I've always steered clear.
