Not to get your hopes up, but one time a guy who liked me admitted later on that he would ask me advice on other girls because he was trying to make me jealous. (It didn't work on me -- I was too oblivious to the fact that he was hitting on me at the time.) It's not the most mature way to pick up a girl, but there is a (very, very small) chance that he's gauging your reaction to see if you're jealous or not.

Hey Nick! Question asker here (sorry that sounds so lame). First off, Thanks so much for answering! Love the site a lot and really think what all of you are doing here. I tend to get "friendzoned" a lot for various reasons, I presume, but I kind of thought there might have been a chance with this guy, until he mentioned this girl. Oh well. I'm not totally heartbroken or anything, but it is refreshing to hear that once and for all, he's probably just not that into me.

I have a handful of girls who I go to for advice when I need it.. and I am attracted to all of them somewhat.. I know they will give me advice because they are somewhat interested in me as well. I use it as a way to kill two birds with one stone, make them jealous and help me out with my problems. The way that these girls and I first became "friends" was because we had little flings together. One girl who I met wouldn't date me because I dated her friend for a little so I did this exact same thing, getting advice and all.. and over some time we started to date after she made a move on me.

Honestly, guys and girls can't really be friends who hang out all the time.. but they can be those friends who see each other out every once and awhile and may talk every so often.
