If a guy came to a bar with the girl he was seeing/sleeping with and she said no to dance to one song but would make it up on the next one.. would you say it's okay for him to then go & dance with another girl?! I just can't stand country music. I found it rude to do that in front of me. Was I right to get pissed?

Yeah, that seems pretty disrespectful. He arrived with you, whether you guys are serious or not, you are his date for the night. To go dance with someone else because he can't wait for another song shows he is not interested in being serious, or even treating you as more than an acquaintance that he hooks up with occasionally. You were right to be mad and should consider dumping this guy and finding someone who also hates country and will dance with you to the music you love.

Seriously? Suppose he liked that song? Respect is a two way street. Sometimes you also have to do things you might not want to so to make him happy also.

That is a point. But if he liked this song, he should have said, "But I really like this song." Also, when saying she didn't want to dance to that song, she ideally would mention WHY she didn't want to. For some reason instead of actually communicating humans have a tendency to act as if they are supposed to have telepathic powers. But it was still disrespectful of him to go dance with another girl instead of waiting. It shouldn't take telepathy for a guy to figure out that that would hurt his date's feelings.

I have to agree with chick geek here. That was not a nice thing to do. It almost sounds like he did it to spite you for not dancing with him when he wanted to. He tipped his hand here and showed you who he is. Selfish and disrespectful. If I were you I would dump him, this sounds like a prelude for things to come. And it will most likely be worse.

When we first started going out, it's one of the first things I told him - that I don't like country music! Then when I said no, I did tell him again why I wouldn't dance to the song. And I did dump him that same night!!! He then posted a facebook status with the text I sent about dumping him AND all his friends started hating on me in the comments so I just needed some assurance that I did the right thing. Thanks guys!
