While I can't say that being all hogwild into depressing stuff makes on depressed, my guess is that it is possible to presume that somebody exhibiting constant signs towards depressed behavior might be...well, depressed.
Here's the question, why does that stuff fascinate you? Is there something innate to the ideas and feelings expressed that you find relatable?
And here's another question, are you worried that you might be depressed? Because if you are then perhaps you might want to go see somebody anyway to find out what is going on in that head of yours. I actually recommend therapy to anybody. I spent a solid year going to see somebody and I wasn't even sure if I had any issues worthy of note (obviously I do and did but my therapist probably felt I was wasting her time).
I've often found, from personal experience, that people who were into darkness, so to speak, tended to have some sort of internal issue or feelings that they weren't able to fully deal with. I have no clue if that's your issue or not but there's no time like the present to find out.
WOW. I could have asked that question. I am the same...I like dark films, books, the mysteries, dark poetry, etc...I have always been drawn to them.
I like your answer BFF....it probably is due to some internal issues. I know mine is...that doesnt mean that I will change tho lol. That said tho, there are a lot of people who are drawn to these sorts of things too. Youre not alone.
I like dark films. . . doesn't mean I'm depressed. In fact, I'm 95% sure that depression isn't a prerequisite to being into anything that was mentioned.
So are you depressed - yes, because you see depression in everything.
Having an interest in dark things can also be a sign of a latent artist living inside you. Artists are three times for likely than non-artists to experience mental disorders (I'm pretty sure I'm quoting that right; a statistic I read in a book called "A Brief History of Anxiety"), but that's BECAUSE they're OPEN to most of the world's experiences, good and bad. They let almost EVERYTHING IN. So, the desire to seek out "dark" things might just be your artistic self wishing to understand things.
I don't know if that was helpful. Or if it made any sense. Sigh. Also, I've noticed that people who are well-off and generally of good mental health like to explore the dark things, too. Maybe because in their real lives they haven't, so they seek out books or movies for it. I dunno. Personally, I've experienced so much crap in my real life that I can barely stand dark art anymore.
Sorry for rambling. I hope SOMETHING there made sense. -_-'
even though i understand this kind of question isn't meant to offend, this type of thing really bothers me. depression isn't something you have if you feel a little sad one day or if you like dark movies. it's a disease and it can really ruin lives.
on the other hand, if you feel like you might be depressed because you feel depressed, not because of any of the things mentioned, going to see a therapist would probably be good for you. just understand that depression is not something to joke around about or to be taken lightly
