Your husband is a chump, but he's not a liar. And if I were him, I'd be ashamed. Dude got played. Ha, ha, ha.
Strip clubs are designed for one reason and one reason only: to separate men from their money. They do this buy selling a fantasy. Simply put, the fantasy strip clubs sell is that all of these naked, beautiful women want you. Balding, sweating, éclair-shaped you. That's the big lie. Then there are assorted little lies, like her name isn't Amethyst, her real name is Fantasia. Or that she's just stripping as a way to pay for her PhD in macroeconomics. My favorite lie goes,"Let me give you a dance. A private dance on this sofa. It's only twenty dollars and you can get me away from that loser over there who keeps staring at me." Of course, the lap dance lasts only a few minutes, and they're like Pringles -- once you pop you can't stop. What's another twenty, if it means keeping her away from that total loser? Besides, I'm doing a service here. Not to mention my money is going to her PhD.
Men pay money to hear all of these lies.
But the best lie is what's waiting inside the infamous "Champagne Room." I've also heard it referred to as "The Garden of Eden" and "The Love Shack." It's the room in the back, where the stripper will lure you after a couple few lap dances. You won't BELIEVE what goes on back there! ZOMG! And you know what goes on in that back room?
Nothing that isn't already happening, only at a steeper mark up. An extra long lap dance. A glass of champagne. Only instead of twenty dollars for the bored grind and ten for a watered down drink, it's twice that. Three times that. Plus service charges. That's how a dude racks up thousands at a strip club -- buying the lies. She really likes me. The money is helping her. I'm going to get my balls drained.
Strip clubs, generally, are not fronts for illegal brothels. It's bad business, especially when your business is legal. Lots of strip clubs are directly or indirectly connected to crime -- you can find and buy drugs there, and probably sex. But not officially. And not from one of the working girls. Is it possible to get jerked off at a strip club? Sure. But unlikely. I've known guys who have gotten numbers from strippers, waited for them to get off work at dawn, and then negotiated illicit activities in parked cars. But that's alot of work, especially when most cities have escorts in the yellow pages.
But normally, a guy who officially spends thousands at a strip club, and runs up his credit card, did it because he was drunk, vain, horny and just a little stupid. Trust me. I've been there.
Poor guy. Poor girl for that matter.
From my boyfriend's secret bachelor party stories, I've heard at most strip clubs, even the "classier" ones in Las Vegas, do pretty risque things in the back room although they don't obviously say so. He said he's had friends that have had hjs, bjs, given toys to use on the girls....He won't tell me which of the friends have done it and I've been force to swear never to mention it to anyone as it's supposed to part of the bro code. However, I have to say I've never been to a strip club so I don't claim this as a fact - I just believe what my guy has said!
Look: I've been in back rooms and seen crazy stuff go down. But that's because I knew the club owner. Crazy sex romps for money is the exception, not the norm in that industry.
But trust me: a lot of guys spin a lot of stories about that back room because they don't want to admit they were had.
As for your man... it's always "friends" isn't it?
"Strip clubs, generally, are not fronts for illegal brothels. It's bad business, especially when your business is legal."
Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's much more lucrative to sell a lie than to give the real thing. Guy would fork out more along the night while entertaining the idea of having sex with a dancer than if they could just schedule a happy private session at the beginning of the evening, knowing they'd get some no matter how much they spend before.
From a bussiness perspective, it's way smarter to keep it clean and legal.
Aaaand these urban legends are good for business, so if I owned a strip club, I would entertain the idea that they are true.
"Then there are assorted little lies... Or that she's just stripping as a way to pay for her PhD in macroeconomics."
I paid for my MBA stripping. But a lot of girls do lie about going to school and getting degrees.
Being a stripper for over 4 years I can say that every thing in John DeVore's answer is pretty accurate!
But I still feel bad for the QA (Question Asker, just made it up). I think that Strip Clubs are absolutely unnecessary for taken men. I think they should be left to singles, and couples.
Don't get me wrong, mama likes teh laydeez and all, but I don't like thinking about my boyfriend being with them...
Besides, I'm doing a service here. Not to mention my money is going to her PhD.
hey man, a scholarship is a scholarship!
Nothing happened. He wasted his money to have a stripper or strippers grind on him, as John said. Unless he was in Montreal or Amsterdam, there was absolutely zero skin to skin contact. Or, uh, so I've heard...
I always enjoy reading John's honest take on these types of questions. I'd be horrified if my husband spent that much money at a strip club, but this answer sheds a lot of light on how it can happen. I find myself thinking, "Yeah, if I were a drunk, horny guy, I would totally do that." Thanks for answering with frank and self-deprecating humor and droppin' some knowledge on this strip club virgin.
Of course, I also can't stop thinking about The Bada Bing, but I'm sure that's just me!
Brilliant answer, Mr DeVore. I used to share a house with a couple of strippers and they would brag about every point you raised. I once talked to their boss (a woman) who told me flat out: "We sell dreams to lonely losers and horny boys that will never come true. There will never be a shortage of them." Funnily enough, one of my former house-mates did go on to complete a degree, but only after making a lot of money in the stripping game then settling down. She majored in Womens Studies.
Your "HUSBAND" goes to Strip clubs?....Thats hilarious..
Are you sure hes your husband? If so maybe you should put him in check! A true faithful husband would have NO REASON to go to a STRIP CLUB.
I used to work within the administrative part of the porn industry many moons ago and it always amuses me how naive some women can be. If they only know how my business meeting take place in strip clubs. No joke. Men have no problem making deals over a dirty martini and T&A. Then there are those who are the lonely who are getting sold the dream - remember the song by the Tubes, "She's a Beauty"?
Some of those women are man-haters &/or lesbians who want NOTHING to do with the patrons, drug addicts, working for a degree, married - all different stories and walks of life but most usually don't tango with the clients ... too dangerous (hence the big, burly bouncers).
Also, the owners of those clubs have enough hassles just trying to keep their business doors open. There is ALWAYS the big eye of scrutiny on the adult business. Owners would prefer to keep the illegal activity OUTSIDE of their establishments. Also, most people would rather have strip clubs "NIMBY" - and a simple accusation could easily put the club owner through hell with fines, permits - the liquor licenses alone are more than enough BS to deal with - who wants charges of prostitution, etceteras?
Great answer, John! Well done.

Woops:
Not "my meeting" (I hate this tiny keypad on my netbook). I meant to say, "many meetings".
sorry 'bout that
That guy is full of shit. My husband (soon to be ex-husband) had sex with a stripper in the "champagne room" at a club at a busy intersection in Philadelphia. Don't tell women it doesn't happen because it does.
i reall hate strip clubs and all those jailbait girls..around there..
I am currently a stripper here in las vegas, and let me tell you, it is not as easy as many make it out to sound. there are a small few who do those awful things, but guess what? they get caught, arrested, fined and are not able to work. Those of us who are honest and "clean" do not want to sleep with ANYBODY nor do we do "tricks" we are too proud or that and have morals too and we don;t have to resort to such things. It is hard handeling drunk men who get handsy, we don;t like it and would rather not deal with that sort, so before you label us all as sluts just because we are comfortable dancing in an erotic fashion to cater to customers who come to see us, does not give anyone the right to call us whores or demean our integrity as fellow women.
