Yes, you are. While there are pleny of television shows and random jokes floating around about men bouncing on a chick after they find out her mother is big, chances are that will not happen. Unless of course you're dating a bodybuilder.
While we do assume that you might start looking like your mother, we aren't going to assume its going to happen anytime soon. Or think that, generally, that its a dealbreaker. Sure we all want our women to look at 50 how they did at 20, but we also know that's just not going to happen. So most of us don't delude ourselves at an early of worrying about something we can't really predict for the future.
So while I understand where the fear comes from, I don't think that you need to be losing your marbles over what might be if they meet your mother. Plus, this is wholly dependent on the type of guy that you're dating. If you're dating a douchey guy, then you get douchey results. That's just normal. If you're dating a good buy, then I'm guessing he won't care as much. Or at all even.

Dear Question Asker,
Size 14 at 5'-4" and being mid 40s is not a hideous representation of humanity.
That's exactly my stats, and honestly, I look pretty damn decent in clothes (ok, could look better naked, but so could we all).
I have men in my life that dig on womanly curves (up,down, front, back and in between), and I go to the gym a few days a week to work on tone as well, though I'm "thick".
I'm actually a bit insulted at your view, and thinking that the problem isn't with your dude, it's with YOU (with all due respect).
It's not your fault, however. It's with (as is over-excused) the media, fashion industry, SPANX and infomercials telling us that we should be ashamed of what we're working with, even if we're trying to become leaner for heart health.
I'm glad your Mom is otherwise cool to you. It's important to be confident, "present" and well-adjusted, wherever you are in the health process. That includes her great traits of humor and smarts! Sounds like your mom isn't a glutton or careless in her appearance, she's just heavier than you would like her to be.
I'd be more concerned if she was passed out drunk on the sofa when the boyfriend comes over. Now THAT'S not a good first impression.
I agree with PJ's douche comment too. I would hope you rise above any superficial opinions he has about you, her or those around you, because as they say... "you become what you tolerate".
:)
^epic win.
Great comment goodkarmagirl!! I couldn't agree more! :)
