Being called an Amazon is usually a compliment. Amazons are she-warriors - females who command. In modern parlance the term has come to mean: poised, bodacious, somewhat intimidating and sexually captivating. An Amazon is not a fatty or a monster. Chances are you're a tall, well proportioned, sexually captivating and somewhat intimidating she-thing.
For men who love dainty little gals, you're not their cup of tea. But for men who like getting on the see-saw with a woman who won't tip the scale but might level it - you completely rock. Think Raquel Welch, Iman, Darryl Hannah in her heyday,a young Anna Nicole Smith, Beyonce, Christina Hendricks. Sexy. Power-house Beauties.
Allow me to suggest a slight modification on the term Amazon. Perhaps, you and your cohorts can adopt the term Glamazon. A Glamazon has it all. She can slay you with her looks, play power forward in a pick-up game of basketball and is gracefully ambidextrous in the spooning department.
I love that description as I've been call an Amazon most of my life being 5'11" and a red head. No losing this girl in a crowd. You've made my day!
5'9" and built solidly with long long curly dark hair. I had a relatively small man look me up and down once and with a suggestive raise of his eyebrows say "I happen to like Amazonian women". Boy was I ready to get out of that elevator. My fathers side is part Norwegian, we have alot of big broad (not fat though) women in the family, and the men make us look dainty in comparison. I've been called an amazon many a time, by my own mother no less.
HaHaHa! This was my dad's term of endearment/teasing nick for my mom when they were just dating. ;)
My guy friends are always calling me that jokingly. The first time I was a bit weird-ed out, but the guy said "Have you ever been called an Amazon", you could probably kick ass in "American Gladiator". I am 6' and athletic but it caught me off guard and at first I thought it meant "tyrannosaurus"! Be a tad more specific guys... :p
6'2 and people always call me an Amazon. I always get so offended when I hear it but now I may look at it differently :-) thank you!
