It is if you have a tremendous ego. It's not like you said the first to make you feel like a natural woman. You said the first person to reject you. I'm guessing that this person got more attractive and more desirable after they rejected you.

I had this happen to me before. And let me tell you, the female ego is a many-headed monster. I had a chick I was very interested in and she casually liked me. We hung out and went on dates, etc. Well, she wanted to jump my bones and I told her no.

Do you know that some 10 years later this woman is STILL hung up on that? She never fails to mention it or snidely throw it at me (a comment, not "it") like I committed the 12th deadly sin. Women do not take rejection well and I think it manifests itself in one of two ways: 1) women become more intrigued in the conquest of it all and never let those romanticized feelings go - mostly because they can't understand the rejection - like you; or 2) they become bitter towards you for taking a shot at their self-esteem, like my friend.

So it is and isn't normal at the same time. It just depends on your level of ego. In your case it made your suitor more palatable and interesting so they are now apart of your legend. I wonder if you were able to deal with this person in whatever way you were looking when you were rejecting, if that desirability wouldn't go away upon "achieving your goal".
