I don't think so. In fact, it's only natural to ask him about his past relationships. In further fact, it's weird to not ask about them.
Now of course there is a time and a place for everything. On a first date? Not really the best time to ask what tanked all of his previous relationships and if anybody ever attempted to murder him because of his cheating ways. Heck, that's definitely not the time to ask if he's a cheater.
I think the best time to start asking about the past is after a few dates and you realize that you may want to consider dating this guy on a more serious level. If you're just trying to keep it easy, breezy (beautiful Cover Girl) then there's no need. Every relationship that begins to enter a more serious phase though deserves for all of the cards to be placed on the table. And unless he has something to hide, I'm pretty sure he'll be okay with that. Beware the guy that is very elusive when it comes to talking about his past or makes you feel guilty for wanting to know more.
You know what it is weird to ask about?
Squirrels.
It was written.
Have to agree with PJ here. Knowing the other person's history is good, just don't expect a play-by-play with names and dates. You should know if the former relationships fizzled out or ended amicably rather than Days of Our Lives drama and a stalker ex-girlfriend who keeps slashing his tires. Plus, if the relationships tend to follow the same patterns, likely yours will too.
While I agree with PJ, I have just one word of advice based on my past experience: Only ask if you're prepared to hear the answer.
Yeah this is good advise. I started asking when my boyfriend and I were comfortable talking to each other about it. For the first month we constantly chatted up the late nights and he told me his ex's and crushes too.
I'm glad you brought up squirrels. I have 2 sets of squirrels in cages in my room. They're mates. Do you think when I bring a guy home I should hide them or should he just accept the fact that I have squirrels and not think I'm weird or anything?
Good advice & @ ICSquirrels: why would you ever keep a squirrel in a cage? they need to be free to run and clib trees and all that. what could they possibly get out of sitting in a cage all day?
