I've been in a long distance relationship for two years now, and hadn't seen my guy in about a month. We finally got some time alone and I tried to get something started, and he stopped me. Should I be worried?

Chances are, nah. Yes, it's possible that he's having some deep, soul-wrenching doubts about your relationship, but there are so many more reasons it could just be "one of those things" that I wouldn't worry too much unless it starts happening a lot.

Some of "those things" may include:

*It can be weird being physical again after a long absence. There are so many expectations built up, it can get to a guy. I know when my wife studied abroad for several months, the sex we had upon her return was some of the most awkward of our relationship (there may have been tears and sprains, but I'm not saying whose or what).

*Maybe he wasn't so sure you WERE "alone." Everyone's got a different comfort level when it comes to doing the spontaneous nasty. If there was a chance someone could walk in, he might not have felt the mojo.

*Maybe he wasn't in the mood. Yes, it happens to us too. Especially if he just traveled a long distance, or you guys were doing something draining like visiting friends or family, etc. Homies be gettin' tired, boo.

So don't worry about it, and try not to put undue thought into (or pressure onto) the situation. If it becomes a pattern, bring it up. Otherwise, chalk it up to poor timing and give it another go.

Ummm I would disagree 100% I was in a long distance relationship for 10 years...yup, silly me I know...but the second you see the other person you just want to rip their clothes off and can't wait to 'be' together. These are men you are talking about. If it's been a month or more, and he doesn't want to rip your clothes off...he's A. Cheating on you, B. no longer that into you or C....BOTH.

It's pretty simple...coming for the mouths of MOST men I know, if he doesn't want to get it on, he's not into you anymore. Sorry

I don't buy it, Kate. First of all, I've known several men in long distance relationships who have shared the awkward "haven't seen you in a while, need to chat a bit first" feeling that I mentioned, and secondly, there's just no way you got enough context and information from the question to definitively tell this person to give up on their relationship. I'd never want anyone to give me that advice frivolously, so questioner, consider this an official rebuttal.

Gonna need to disagree right back as well. Guys are not just genitals with vestigial brains. They are actually not always in the mood, and it doesn't always mean something when they arent. Its not a great idea to tell this girl her boy is a cheater or that he doesnt care about her anymore when you dont know anything about the guy or the situation except that at one opportunity, he wasn't in the mood for sex.
honestly, if hes nervous and awkward about sex right away then it probably means something to him and he has been thinking about it a lot. If he didn't care, he would probably just do it. Or, he could be tired. Guys do get tired too.

That, or he was afraid he'd pop off like a rocket ten seconds in.

Gotta remember us guy tend to run a little quicker when we don't "get any" for a while.
