I've never been overly concerned with marriage, or even ameniable to the idea of it. But suddenly it seems like all my oldest friends are getting married. I'm left wondering why I'm in love with the greatest boyfriend I've ever had, yet so far away from the alter? How do I cure wedding fever? I don't want it.

What you're going through right now is called the "wedding wave": pretty much everybody you know gets married. In about five years or so, they'll all be having babies. This is normal.

We should sort out "getting married" from "holding a wedding", here. "Getting married" is a legal and social ritual that can be done with a couple of strangers, a couple of rings, and a pen. "Holding a wedding" is basically staging an expensive party because other people want you to pay for their food for a day.

We all want to go with the flow, but if you want a corrective that might erase wedding fever entirely, consider that food and booze for, say, a hundred people will run you six thousand dollars, easy. And this is before the venue, before the clothes, before the jewelry, etc. A friend of a friend is getting married as frugally as possible and it's still costing her over $10,000.

Imagining what you could do with $10,000 is probably the most valuable cure I've come across, because that's a lot of money to get your friends tanked and be given five toasters. If you want to get married, that's cheap. If you want to have a wedding...well, expect to pay.

I'm not sure I see the problem here. You don't want marriage, your boyfriend doesn't want it, your friends getting married aren't pushing you to get married. So what is the problem?

It's about feeling that you're being kind of "left behind" in a way. Not that life is a race or something, it's just that for a long time she has probably been on relatively the same page as her friends regarding life achievements and milestones, but now they're all taking a step that she isn't and it's a little strange feeling. I'm coming into that same phase now, where it seems like every other week another friend changes their FB status to engaged, but I don't even have a man. Then there is all the planning and the invites, showers/parties, registries... The whole atmosphere can make you catch "wedding fever", even if marriage wasn't really on your radar before, causing you to wonder why you aren't getting married and if it will happen soon. It kinda sucks for a bit.... It will pass though, the trick is reminding yourself that it's a phase and that you don't want to make a life-altering decision based on what your friends are doing with their lives. Chin up girl! Enjoy your solid relationship and your friends' nuptials. You'll get through this thing and look back and laugh.

I've been there...it sucks at first because you see all your friends getting married and popping babies and your the only one either single or dating and it starts to make you want to join the marriage and baby club as well. Just keep focusing on yourself and all the happy aspects of your relationship. Because your friends are going to have to deal with a hell of a lot more stress than you because you are not tied down to a man/woman and child.

I've weighed the pros and cons of being single vs being in a serious relationship and/or married, and I'm a little jealous but one of my best friends told me that she's jealous of me.

If you get married in the save wave with others, nobody will remember your happy day. ;) Wait a few years and it'll be cool again.
