Welcome to what I like to call the hot chick dilemma - and yes, it applies to guys too. You see someone hot, and yes, you desire them. That is pretty much normal. 99% of people* won't approach the hottie for the following reasons:
1/ Someone that hot simply has to be taken.
2/ Not way am I good enough to catch her interest.
3/ Everyone is going to piss themselves laughing at me.
4/ I'll wait until she is drunk enough that I look good to her.
So the hot chick sits there. Flirting, expressing interest, fending off the inevitable douchebags and finally going home, sad and alone yet again. That is usually why the ultra hotties wind up with fairly plain looking though decent guys or total douches.
No one else ever asks them.
Just go for it. Sure, it is slightly different with a hot guy, but not that much. If you get shot down, you get shot down. So what. You tried. Your ego can take a hit or two without crumbling into dust, you know.
You won't get shot down if you don't ever try. Of course, then you'll never know ....
