It's a terrible sign for your relationship. In fact, in the pantheon of signs that a relationship is heading towards nowheresville fast, yours should be flashing "Doomsday" right about now.

Now, it's quite possible that your friends suck. I'm sure you may already know this. But - and this is a very big but, heh heh heh - they are your friends and I'm sure you enjoy hanging out with them whenever you can. The fact that your boyfriend isn't up for it at all means he's trying to exert some sort of control over the relationship (and passing judgment on them as not being worthy of your time).

What your boyfriend is doing is making you choose. If you want to hang with him, then they can't be around and vice versa. It's the worst kind of balancing act ever because both sides have a legitimate beef. In an ideal world, everybody hangs out in a hot tub together and drinks Mimosas on Saturday night because you're totally bad ass. But your world blows right now (and not in the good way) so at some point you're going to have to make a decision just to maintain your own sanity. And you can't win at all. Either you're going to lose your boyfriend or your friends.

The choice is yours.

P.S. The best boyfriends and relationships are ones where you don't have to choose. Just in case you weren't sure.
