It's called "The Cohabitation Trap," and it talks about how even though living together can give you valuable insight into your partner's living habits, it can also pressure people to move forward with relationships they may not have otherwise. Yes, studies have shown that we will marry someone, have children with them, and spend the rest of our lives with them because on some level we think "well, it's easier than moving all my shit out."
Give it a read and see if that changes anything for you. I only bring it up because the fact that you think he definitely doesn't want to live together means that you're not in the ideal moving in together situation, so some further thought might be in order.
Okay, thought over. Here's how to trick him into moving in with you.
Begin by dropping near-subliminal hints that your boyfriend should move in with you. Open the paper to an article about rising rents. Put his favorite kind of chair in your living room. Complain that you're constantly frustrated by your inability to find him when you want to have sex.
Then, once the suggestion of the idea is in his mind, start in with the physical appropriation phase. Point out that it would just be easier if he left a toothbrush and some clothes at your house. Offer to watch his pet for a few days; let it become a week. Next time you have a movie night, ask him to bring all of his DVDs so you can choose, then try and sneak some onto your shelf when he goes to the bathroom.
After you've got most of his apartment crammed into yours, it should be a fairly simple matter to get your landlord to add his name to the lease without his knowledge, especially if your landlord is related to you, takes bribes, or preferably both.
Now burn down his apartment.* Congratulations! You guys live together.
This plan works best if you've got enough time to put it into action without rushing it, and are fine with brazenly manipulating your lover.
