Dump this guy so fast his head spins. What a terrible way to break up with someone. Even if he's being honest about his feelings for your friend, he doesn't need to tell you this. He could break up with you and then go after your friend. It might be weird, but you'd be broken up. Instead, this guy has said he would rather date your friend. You deserve to be with someone who wants to be with you and only you.
Now, ask yourself...how would you feel if your friend said she's into him? Would it feel like a betrayal of your friendship if they started dating? Hopefully your friend has your back on this one. If she goes for your ex right away, she's not a good friend. So end things with him and move on. You don't need to say anything to your friend about his intentions either.Why add insult to injury?

I'm sorry you're in this situation, but read over your own question--he TOLD you he's not into you?? Nevermind the part about your friend--I would have been insulted enough to dump him on the spot regardless. Also, I'm confused about why /he/ didn't break up with /you/ upon his admission of liking your friend. I mean...was he planning on sticking around with you for a while just in case your friend isn't interested? What a sh*thead.
Move on and next time (hopefully there won't be one, but still) save yourself some time and just slap him clear across the face and break up with him.

I would be perfectly happy letting him go-- This is his way of breaking up with you, he may or may not even be into your friend either. I wish more guys would be more up front about when they dont want to pursue a relationship.
