Please don't try again with this guy. He's toxic and your relationship with him was toxic. To "try again" will be to willingly put yourself into an emotionally damaging situation.
Sometimes, men change. But I don't think this guy will. Jealous, controlling guys usually remain jealous and controlling. No matter what you do for him, you're not going to be able to make him happy. I'm sorry, WHY do you want to give it another try with this guy? Do you really want to give that much control over your life to someone else? I think it's a terrible idea. Find someone who values you and sees you as an equal, not as a slave.
