I think he is ashamed of his body and projecting those feelings onto you and everyone else. Most guys would love it if our women were naked all the time. He thinks no one looks good naked? I have a picture of Salma Hayek that might change his mind.

Naked isn't weird. Naked is the natural human state; it's how we entered the world. Centuries of moral/religious influence and cultural norms have taught us to be ashamed of our naked bodies. I think that's sad. Why should we be embarrassed by our natural state? This is who we are. I'm not saying we should be able to walk down the street in the buff without getting arrested. I'm talking about being comfortable with our physical selves.

Some people are more modest than others--I get that. And I don't know if you are asking your guy be naked with you all the time, like when the two of you are watching TV or making dinner or playing Mario Kart. You won't find many people who want to be nude quite that much. For one thing, it's cold; also, 'nads tend to stick to leather furniture. But if you are talking about him being generally more at ease with his own body and yours, I think that is important.

Nudity without shame around your significant other is a measure of intimacy. You are naked without fear of judgment or rejection for your physical imperfections. I think your boyfriend's claims that human bodies are ugly is just an excuse for his embarrassment and inability to be totally open with you. It makes me wonder if he has intimacy issues; if you can't be physically exposed with your mate, how emotionally exposed can you be? If you don't think the two are connected, think about the body language of people who are sad, angry, worried, ashamed: they fold their arms or turn away or avert their eyes. Physical actions belie emotions. What feelings is he hiding from you when he hides his body or wants you to hide yours? What is it about that rawness that makes him emotionally uncomfortable?

I say don't let him make you insecure about your body. If you want to be naked, do it. If he can't handle it, you'll know there are bigger issues in the relationship. Maybe your comfort in being nude will help him relax and not be so determined to hide himself from you. Assure him that you don't want to parade around naked 24/7 (right?). You just want the two of you to be at ease around each other clothed or unclothed, and you don't want to feel ugly to him if you decide to walk from the bathroom to the bedroom without wrapping a towel around yourself. You want that intimacy and comfort level with him. Hopefully he will be able to let down his guard with you.
