Get a lawyer. If you can't afford one, consult the Legal Aid chapter in your area. There is always a way out. If he's cheating, consider hiring a private detective to follow him to get proof to use in the divorce trial. Unless there are extenuating circumstances (drugs, abuse, etc), most judges tend to side with the mom in custody battles.
Does he have you physically trapped? Are you scared of what he might do if you leave? Then call the police or a domestic abuse hotline. There is always someone to help.
As a child of divorce, I can say 100% that staying together for the kids is never a good idea. In fact, I believe that married couples who hate each other and stay together for the kids are selfish. It is better to have two loving parents in separate homes (or one loving parent) than two parents who are miserable together. If you and your husband are constantly fighting, it will be harder on your kids. Sure, divorce is difficult for everyone. But kids are resilient and, in the end, they'll be happier when mom and dad are no longer miserable.
My mom married several times before she found a good man. Divorce doesn't have the stigma it once did. Heck, The Huffington Post has an entire section devoted to the subject. Get help, either from a lawyer, family member, the police, or a member of your church if that's your preference. You are not alone. And please let us know how specifically you are trapped in the comments so that we can help.

Me, being a kid in this situation for 19 years, i am definitely with chic geek on this one.
Why do I have the horrible feeling that what she needs isn't a lawyer- it's a bonesaw.
He hates me because he thinks I put OUR kids before him and now after the kids are grown and gone he thinks that I put the animals before him. Even though I have sold my special horse to pay bills and to keep him from going to his special girlfriend, he still chose her before me. What can I do?
Very efficiently written story. It will be useful to anybody who employess it, including me. Keep up the good work - can’r wait to read more posts. 286509
