How about something fun and gaming related that he wouldn't necessarily buy for himself? Like a shirt featuring various game controllers? How about a 8-Bit flower bouquet straight out of Super Mario Bros.?
Has he ever read the Scott Pilgrim comics? Sure he saw the movie, but the comics are even better. They've all recently come out in color as well. Or if he's more of a Penny Arcade guy, there are plenty of collections out there.
Old-school gamers old enough to remember the '80s should all own a copy of The Wizard, aka the Nintendo movie starring Fred Savage and young Jenny Lewis from Rilo Kiley, on DVD. (What, no Blu-ray??) Worth watching for the famous Power Glove scene ("I love the Power Glove. It's so bad...") and the scene where Beau Bridges and Christian Slater are addicted to the classic NES Ninja Turtles game.
You can also never go wrong with a PlayStation Network or Xbox Live gift card, depending on which system he prefers. (Or an Apple or Google Play card if he prefers App games.) Hope this helps!

Thank you Nick, this is all great stuff!
We got 10 consoles at home from snes to wii u...haha but I am the Scott Pilgrim fan (speaking of which...will it ever come out a Lost at sea#2?). I guess I'm gonna spend my Friday Night on thingeek, it's just brilliant. And I'll check the movie for sure.
THANK YOU!
