Being a Cat Lady is not strictly about quantity, or ratio of Homo Sapien to Felis Catus. It's about obsession or as I like to put it, diversion. Now, I'm probably going to get a lot of flack for this, but I think those people, men or women, who are extreme pet owners are so at the detriment to other facets of their lives. The pet is a surrogate for human partnership. It's a stand in for the intimacy and give and take of a human to human relationship.
But FG, I don't want to f*k my cat? I have boundaries? Yes, you don't want to physically have sex with your cat; but you buying the pet sweaters every other week and showering your Facebook wall with posts about what sort of (only charming to you) nonsense Peppers got into last night, is a problem.
What officially makes a lady a Cat Lady is the disproportionate amount of time she devotes to the cat. At best the cat should be... 15% of your life's day to day energy. And even that is probably high. Also, if your house has more hair floating around it than a Barber Shop with the fan on, and your bathroom smells like cat piss, this also points to Cat Lady Land.
Also, if a man comes to your house and can't stop sneezing in your bed, and you refuse to put Peppers in the living room because she "might get too saddy waddy" -- Cat Lady. Also, if you have more than 2 books about cats, and or more than 2 postcards/framed pictures, pieces of jelwery cat related - Cat Lady.
Remember a cat has 9 lives, you, on the other hand only have one; don't waste it by dressing your cat like Don Draper and avoiding human to human contact.
Okay so this is amazing timing lol. I'm a 26 y/o single woman and I just moved into an apt by myself. Well, my old roommate had this chihuahua that kept my cat company during the day but now, she has nothing to entertain her all day and is super clingy when I get home from work. That, coupled with a relatively busy social life, I'm thinking of getting a kitten to keep her company but my number one concern was...am I going to be a cat lady? In short (sorry for the tl;dr lol) you've made me feel much better. While I love my cat and give her attention, she is far from the center of my world lol. Hopefully any potential guys I date share your opinion, funny guy :)

While we're on the subject of pets, here's a double standard that annoys me: people who buy sweaters every week for their DOG, have a million pictures of their dog online, bring their dog into 50% of their converstations, etc., are just "dog lovers." Meanwhile, if you love your cat/have more than one, you're some cuckoo crazy lady.
Pets should be an accessory to your life, not a focus. They're fun, cuddly, and in the case of cats, make your house feel warm and cozy by draping themselves over your windowsill. But they shouldn't take the place of people, as FG said. A guy shouldn't have a problem with your cats, or any pets for that matter, as long as he doesn't feel crowded out by them or that you have an excessive focus on them. Of course, allergies can definitely be an issue, and if that's the case, you might just need to spend more time at his place, I suppose.
HAHAHAHA!!!!!! Love this answer!!!

Now that's a cat lady....
(Also, I promise this isn't spam or porn or whatnot, just a simple, funny video)
I said over & over again that if my sister had ONE cat, I swear it would all make sense. She is only one cat shy of being the cat lady. (sorry sis)
I totally agree with the above, but would like to stress his last point - if the apartment smells like cat you've got a problem, so make sure you've got the space for so many cats.
