My S.O. wants to "take care of me". What does he mean?

Hmmm...good question. This could mean any number of things, as the term "take care of me (you)" is as old as history itself. I suppose that even Caveman used this phrasology between grunts, chest bumps, and hi-fives. And I'm pretty sure I heard it uttered in Clan of the Cave Bear, the movie, not just the thrill-seeker adventure ride!

Before we go any further, have you pissed off your S.O.? Because if so, then he might mean he wants to have you offed. Killed. Murdered. Disappeared. Departed. Which is my first inclination when I hear the term. Sue me; I watch too many Italian mafia flicks. And/or movies starring Joe Pesci.

Now, he could also mean he wants to put you in a papoose and wash you down and make sure that you are all shiny and clean at all times, like a baby. This one is a stretch and I can even admit that I hate myself a little bit after typing out this entire paragraph.

Most likely is that he wants to give you the sun, the moon, the stars, and the mountains. He'd even like to give you the world and all that you wish for...and even more. He wants to make sure that you want for nothing. This is where you ask him if he deals drugs. Or works in "construction". Seriously, why is it that all men into illegal and illicit activities do construction work. I know somebody who had a cousin involved in illicit activities, but dude had a landscaping and minor construction firm. The hell?

Anyway, I'm guessing, at the end of the day, what he means is that he wants to take care of you.

it means he wants to provide for you financially honey. he wants to support you, pay your bills. you'll be a "kept" money. meaning your man will fit the bill. Its a very good thing, very old fashioned, where the man still believes in being the bread winner for his woman.

My man is just like this. I had just gotten out of a relationship with a man who constantly was broke and i was constantly fitting the bill, and then when we split i was swept off my feet by a man the exact opposite. he wanted to put me up in my own place, get me a car, really do for me and take care of me. Ive never been treated like this and it definitely takes some getting used to, but honey if a man says he wants to be the man in hte relationship and he wants to see you provided for, let himmmmm! lol.
