The most annoying thing is, it works to no one's advantage. I'm Asian and I am always very wary of men who only want to date Asian women, or would prefer to be with them, etc. It annoys me because you never know what fucked up cultural stereotypes they bring with them (that we're stupid, for one, or docile. I certainly am not) or why they want to be with you (physical probably. Some sort of post WWII hangover?).

I don't think things are so black and white.
Perhaps he didn't say it in so much of a 'I would rather be dating an asian right now'.
Sometimes people have preferences for physical attributes(wouldn't most women ideally like to be dating Johnny depp , brad pitt, jake gyllanhal etc?) yet we meet someone who doesn't fit into this ideal yet we love them and want to be with them anyway.
In some ways, I think the fact that he is with you and is attracted to you despite the fact he normallylikes asains, can be something special.
If however it has something to do with stereotypes or how he perceives asians to be characterwise (docile, more submissive, more attentive etc) then it might be something you want to rethink...
