Perhaps this particular chap has taken a shining to you but it goes no further than him thinking your just an awesome doll.
Think about it. Guys usually are pretty upfront about what they want, when they're acting pressed, anyway. If a guy wants to be your man, he'll make that clear, ESPECIALLY if he's writing you poetry and singing on your answering machine. He'll be begging you for your love and affection and a little teeeeeeeeeeeeenderness.
Yet this cat is singing the tune of friendship?
Maybe he really likes text messaing and is a singing, poetry writing fool. Hell, he might be writing a poem right now for your next door neighbor because he really likes poems.
So my question is, what do you want from dude? Do you want to be more than friends and are getting annoyed at what you view as mixed messages?
Maybe, he's interested in you and a bunch of other people too, so he's doing what he needs to do to keep you interested (who ISN'T interested in a person who sings on their answering machine - double points if its a showtune), but maintaining his "friends" label so that he can feel the freedom to do whatever his heart desires, which pretty much means bang broads after singing them sweet nothings.
Or maybe he's lying and wants to be your boo, Boo. Though, that would make no sense, because once again, any guy willing to sing on your answering machine with possible TMZ-like exposure only an email away is probably not afraid to say he wants to be your love muffin.
So my guess is that dude is interested in you, but just not sure how interested he is yet, but definitely willing to do what it takes to see you naked and possibly put together a puzzle on a boring Saturday afternoon.
It was written.
Hmm, he might just be gay.
lol megan i was thinking the exact same thing.

......yea I vote gay too.I know a really fool proof way to find out!!! See how well he does a Wendy Williams impression. If that doesnt get it I dont know what will.
He may just be keeping you as an option while he is entertaining other options. He probably enjoys your company and friendship but if he wanted you, he would make it clear.
I'm going with the Gay card.
I wrote a poem about a box of bees once. Doesn't mean I want to hump it.
my guess iz he's thinkin friends wit benefits?
Sometimes guys are too shy to say up-front that they're interested in you, so they'll give you the "friend" label while behaving like a suitor in other ways (e.g. writing poetry and calling you all the time). It stems from a lack of confidence and a fear of rejection. You should make it clear that you're interested in him, and figure out where you stand based on his reaction.
