should i attend my girlfriends 10th year high school reunion

If she invites you, I would politely decline. Here's why: she wants to show you off. This is nice. Flattering. I'm sure you clean up well, and even know how to operate a fork. And I'm sure you'd know the drill. Smile a lot, make eye contact, shake hands. Stand slightly behind her, gaze at her as she re-connects with old friends and reminisces. Every guy has been there. It's one of the things we do. We attend events where she gets to flutter about, while you play the role of Prince Charming, hanging out behind her like a gentleman shadow.

But man, can that get boring.

I would politely decline by telling her that she should have her space. That there will be so many people from her past there, that you'd just be a hanger-on, albeit a handsome one. Your relationship is so strong, it can take a little separation. She should go to the party and have a great time, while you stay home and just... do anything you want. Hello, frozen pizza, beer, and Netflix (Has anyone seen Ninja Assassin? It's fantastinuts!)

Okay, but here's the thing. Don't push it. Politely decline, but if she insists, really insists, then set your balls to "Just Do It." Find a happy place to go to while she squeals with past pals, and drones on and on about that teacher with the funny nose. And don't sweat any old high school flames. What happened in high school stays in high school... unless you're emotionally stunted.

Depends how serious they are. If she's asking him to go, my guess is pretty serious. It would be really rude and kinda disrespectful to tell her no. I'm sure she goes to plenty of "boring" things for him. She wants him there for a reason. Suck it up. I'm sure she'll make it up to him. :)

Why wouldn't you?

Perhaps your reluctance to do something with her will send her right into the arms of the old flame!!

LOL, you'd deserve that!!!

Aww, why not? John, you seem to assume that she's going to completely ignore her boyfriend while chatting it up with her old girlfriends and classmates for hours on end.

If she's not completely self-absorbed, she'll go say hi, catch up, and leave after an hour if she's brought her man. Then again, I hated high school, and I don't plan on going to any reunions.

If the girl is marriage material, I say suck it up. If you're not sure yet, I don't see why you HAVE to make the effort. But, I wouldn't go to fisticuffs over it.

I mean, hey, at least it's free booze. I mean, she IS paying, right??

Should you also decline invitations to the weddings of people your girlfriend knows because (gasp) you might have to endure a few boring hours with her friends?

This is part of what you do for your SO. If your spouse or partner has requested your company, I don't think you send them dateless to one of these events just because you can't bear to spend a few hours making chitchat with people you don't know very well. Every woman has done the very same thing for her guy.
