It's highly clinical questions like this that have finally made me seek out an actual Columbia University MPH, PhD to co-answer such queries.
Allow me to introduce... Dr. O., a New York City based researcher and professor with extensive experience in reproductive and public health.
If you're reading this right now, and you have any clinical questions, need some quick booty call facts or are curious about your man' s x, y or z body part, please submit them in the comment section below.
I will scoop them up and have Dr. O. take a clinical brain swing at them!

First, let me just state that clinically and objectively, this case raises some important questions. And it is disturbingly hot. Now that we've addressed that, let's tackle some of the key issues here:
1. There is always a risk of pregnancy when dealing with sperm/semen. The percentage chance of pregnancy after direct or indirect male-female genital contact is never actually "zero". No matter how many napkins you use.
2. Outside (and inside) the human body, ejaculated sperm will gradually lose motility and viability. Motility indicates the speed at which sperm move, while viability is a term for how potent the sperm are (i.e. how likely they are to cause pregnancy). Estimates vary, but the rate of decline is generally 5-10% an hour under "optimal conditions" outside the human body. Note that "optimal conditions" usually means a clean test tube; less-than-optimal conditions will probably have a higher rate of decline as bacteria are bad for sperm. Translation: If you did anything to reduce the cleanliness of the surfaces involved, e.g. you ate a bag of Cheetos or went swing dancing after jerking off your boyfriend, this could reduce the number of viable sperm that might be present when you masturbated several hours later.
3. Temperature and other environmental conditions will affect the rate of decline/loss of sperm. High temperatures are very bad, with room temperature being OK for sperm, body temperature being bad (ironically), and higher-than-body temperature being terrible. One great way to kill off sperm is to expose them to sustained high temperatures. This is true both inside the body (while sperm are maturing within the testicles) as well as outside the body. Hot tubs (which are factory programmed to be between 100-104 degrees F) are basically giant sperm death camps. If you are actually trying to get pregnant, keep the hot tubbing and tighty whities to a minimum.
4. The major determinants of pregnancy that are true in any situation hold true here as well - how fertile is your boyfriend (male fertility being a major determinant), what phase of the menstrual cycle were you in, and what other demographic or environmental features were present before, during and after sexual contact? Age is a well known determinant for women - but it holds true for men as well. There is some evidence that the length of pre-ejaculatory sexual contact (how much stimulation, how long, etc) affects the numbers of viable sperm in ejaculated semen. Other factors such as the volume of semen that is ejaculated can be critical.
So: Putting all this together, the likelihood of pregnancy is very low. If you and your boyfriend were both exceptionally fertile, it's probably in the very low double digits - probably well under 10% if it were 3+ hours by the time you got down to masturbating. In the future you may want to wash your hands after jerking off others. It's not just a good way to prevent pregnancy - it's also basically smart and polite. If you're having sex someplace where soap and water aren't immediately available, hand sanitizer is a very acceptable substitute. A small bottle of hand sanitizer (preferably containing ethanol) comes in really handy for those times when - surprise! - you find yourself in a sticky situation.
Thanks for your question!

Maybe not zero, but certainly nothing I'd place bets on, and I go for the long shots.
Um, ew factor!
You didnt wash your hands after jacking off your boyfriend. You didnt wash your hands for a few hours after jacking off your boyfriend. Did you wash your hands after you masturbated?
I do indeed have a question. I started going out with a guy a few months ago and despite being on the contraceptive implant (implanon) we used condoms, mainly because (and i never said this to him) I don't know specifically that he is, for lack of a better term "clean" not that I think he isn't. Anyway, I gave him a blowjob recently, so if I was gonna catch something I would have from that right? So should I be fine not using condoms? And before some smart ass replies I know I should thought about that before blowing him, heat of the moment and all that.
No. If people have STDs, it's like any other disease, you might not get it the first time around. You can be in a room full of people with colds, and not get one, though it is unlikely. They don't have a 100% transference rate, so just because you didn't get something once doesn't mean you won't get it the next time you expose yourself to whatever it is. There are also some viruses that have trouble transmitting orally but find your downstairs bits and pieces a perfect place to breed.
Basically, get yourself tested. Then get him tested, and make sure you're there when he gets the results so that you know you're not being lied to. Sex is awesome; STDs are not.
Russian roulette. Spin the revolver cartridge the first time, you might not get the bullet. Keep doing it though, the odds become increasingly high that eventually it will stop on the bullet. No different than any sexual encounter that you aren't sure about.
What can I do to become more wet? I have no problem during the day but it seems like when im getting down and dirty my brain flicks on and interferes.. or i get sore easily and then that doesnt help. Is there something i can actually do for this? Also, does birth control play a factor into it?
Yes some birth control causes dryness. Hormonal contraception for sure can cause dryness as does condoms.
There is no shame in adding extra lube to make sex great. Buy some good water based lube and enjoy.
Can you get herpes 1 and/or herpes 2 from just kissing? How likely is it to get either one from kissing for like 3 seconds from someone with no visible sores?
The kind that are also called coldsores can ONLY be transmitted when you have a breakout. (it's the fluids from the sores that have the virus).
I have had cervicitis every month for the last 4-5 months. Not really sure if it is the same infection or if it is a new infection each month. I generally go through this pattern: funky discharge, go to doctor, take antibiotics. Weird discharge seems to go away, start period, end period, funky discharge. The last time I was treated with a longer dose of antibiotics. Recently I have been bleeding after sex, and it is painful, is this related? I have been tested for Stds a few times, but it always comes back negative. Not sure what to do anymore, tired of being on antibiotics every month. Could my birth control be a cause?
I sometimes get it if I only use tampons. You can also get it from not changing your pads often enough. If they guy you are having sex with is new, or you change partners often, that can play a role too.
I'm only asking this question out of curiosity, but how do the sperm know where to go to join with the egg? Or are they all just whizzing around aimlessly and it's just by chance?
Whizzing around aimlessly. But if inside the vagina, the semen flows towards the Fallopian tubes, which helps increase the odds a sperm hits the egg.
Does a man's penis become less sensitive as they age?
Having a guy ejaculate on your face/body; can you get any STD's that way? I thought I was knowledgeable on the subjet, but a friend claims that all you need is a cut on your skin to be at risk. True or no?
I'm sorry, but why on Earth do people ask questions on Guyspeak that only a doctor can answer? I mean, this time, FG found a doctor, but that's my point. FG is not a urologist, or an expert on biology. Why not Google this shit or ask an actual doctor and let someone with a non-scientific, reasonable question get answered instead?
Ex: "Do guys really care about breast size?"==reasonable, non-scientific question that a normal guy can give you insight on.
"So I'm thinking about getting a boob job, but I'm afraid it might pose risks to my health/not end up being worth the money"--GOOGLE THAT SHIT, or get a consultation from a plastic surgeon. (just random examples I made up, but I see questions on here from time to time that are similar).
Yes ma'am, Ms. Killjoy!!
Well yes and no, Carly. I'd like to think that I can merge some commentary and perhaps humor into the spoonful of good clinical advice. I thought Dr. O would be a great way to extend that. Plus, just wait for the video we are working on -- it will make you happy!
I see what you mean, FG. Looking forward to the vid, I'm sure it'll be fantastic :)
My point was simply that on a personal level, if I really needed an answer to a pressing question regarding pregnancy, STDs, my body, etc., I don't think I'd be inclined to submit a question on this site, wait for an answer, and then act. I'd get myself to someone with a PhD asap.
Well speaking as a regular reader it's much more fun to read the responses to them on this site than some soulless corner of google :)
I've received differing answers to this and would appreciate any more! Obviously after a certain age ladies are less able to conceive, but what's the deal with men? Is there a standard age when it's curtains on the baby-producing front for them?
I'd be curious about this as well, since I am 42 and my BF is 56, but I would guess there is no way to tell for sure without having his swimmer's tested.
Here's what I've been taught. As men get older, their fertility does decrease gradually. But, barring any medical issues, never stops completely, though, the chances of a birth defect increase as a man gets older. A 56 year old man can certainly father children, hell while I was in Saudi I knew a girl who's father was in his 70s when she was born. And she looked normal. Quite nice looking actually, almost enough for me to seriously considered changing my religion.
TL;DR version, as a man ages, he gradually loses fertility in his semen and increases risks of having children with birth defects or other disorders.
I really enjoyed this Q&A - thanks for enlightening!
