Ouch! That one hurts. Either the guy is an uber a-hole or you just had a very embarassing misunderstanding.
If you find out the guy was just leading you on in order to make you feel stupid, then you could do something rude like share the transcripts of the texts on Facebook or Twitter amongst all of your common friends. Make sure to leave out the portion where he says he was texting the wrong person. Try and shame him that way.
If it was just a mistake, which is totally possible, although odd, you just have to chalk it up to that feeling where someone is walking down the street and waving at you and you wave back and it turns out they were waving to the person behind you. Painful but the shame will pass -- trust me, it will pass.
