Hugging a short guy can be tricky - not so much for you, but for the guy. His ego to be precise. You see, hugging in the early months of dating has a bit of a cradling/protective quality to it. An, "I got you babe" feel to it. Best illustrated by this TALL WOMAN/short man couple - Sonny and Cher.

Typically the hug demonstrates the man's masculine desire to shield and secure, while in turn the woman plays the role of absorbed - shielded. With a short fella the transaction (not the desires) becomes harder to execute.

Certainly, short guys have dealt with this challenge prior to hugging you. That's why many short men work out. If you can't bulk up north, bulk what you can. That's also why short guys often make short jokes and wear slight platforms.

The answer to the short man hug is simple if not overly brilliant: it is what it is. Ladies, don't hunch your back, crane your neck or slide your legs out into a split in order to feign shorter than him. You're not. I'm not saying wear stilettos and a sombrero either, but there's nothing sadder than a tall girl acting short for her man's sake. Hug the short man in your life like... you're hugging your 14 year-old cousin. It is what it is. HOWEVER, the intimacy, the flirtation, the heat can still exist. Not by resting your head on his chest, but perhaps by the way he wraps his big arms around you, the way he sways you side to side, the way your breasts press firmly against... his thick neck.
