...What? Oh, I'm sorry. I was just thinking about how hot it is when a girl plays guitar. I'm going to have to say this falls into the "incredibly hot" category.
I'm a sucker for talented women, and in particular, women who are talented in areas in which I am completely inept. I have a hard enough time playing guitar on Rock Band, so when someone can actually play, I tend to find them extremely awesome. Same with cello players. Wowzers.
Here are some super hot and talented female guitar players:
- Liz Phair
- Corin Tucker from Sleater-Kinney
- Bonnie Raitt
- Nancy Wilson from Heart
- Joan Jett
That's some good company to be in. Plus, playing the guitar is a great way to meet guys. Besides playing in a band and meeting people at shows and what not, just hanging out and strumming in the park, or wherever, is bound to attract interest. It's an instant conversation starter.
Never hide your talents. We get a lot of questions along the lines of, "My boyfriend/guy that I like is intimidated by my singing voice/video game skills/etc. Should I downplay that to get a guy?," and it always makes me kind of sad. No one should ever stop being who they are just to get a date. The person you are meant to be with will love that you play electric guitar, or paint, or write poetry, or knit fashionable cat sweaters. Don't worry about guys being intimidated. If they are, they need to get over themselves, and aren't worth your time.
And, of course, you could always teach the guy to play. That would make for a really fun (and hot) first date.

Knitting fashionable cat sweaters is pretty freaking cool.
I met my boyfriend at a party while playing guitar. I saw him staring at me from across the room while I was rocking out with some other musicians and ended up approaching him later that evening. Lucky for me, he plays guitar, too :)
Awwww! That's a great story to tell the grandkids.
This is the reason I tried to get my boy toy to teach me guitar. Only I just don't have the fingers for it damnit.
I know a lot of guys who are completely freaked when they learn about what I can do. No, I'm not conceited, I just have several talents. I've had to learn (the hard way) to keep mum about what I can do, keep it under the hat, so to speak. I don't bring it up in conversation and I don't show it off.
As much as I love you, Nick, I think your opinion is the minority. Maybe it's better for this girl to date people whose talents are closer to hers, like a musician or something. Even if he plays the drums or something, he'll be a lot less insecure about the instrument thing and less likely to break it off when he discovers what she can do.
I have to say that for the last couple of hours i have been hooked by the amazing articles on this website. Keep up the good work.
