Well there has been a lot of this sort of thing happening lately, right? First the face-eating guy in Florida, then a guy in Maryland killed his housemate and ate his brain, then another guy in Jersey threw his flesh and intestines at police. Pretty weird. The CDC even issued a statement saying that no zombie virus was released on the masses, and "zombie apocalypse" has been trending on Google for days. Is this the beginning of the end? Is the government covering up the release of a zombie virus? Will we be blasting the undead with shotguns and stocking up on can goods soon?
Eh, probably not. The story in Florida is weird, but it's clear the guy was on drugs. "Bath salts" as they call it, which leads to hallucinations. And crazy drug addicts do awful stuff all the time unfortunately. And because that story was so big, news organizations have been keeping an eye out for similar stories. It is a little strange that all this stuff happened around the same time, but there sadly it probably happens more than you expect. To paraphrase Rick James, bath salts are a hell of a drug.
Of course, hysteria over the end of the world can lead people to do crazy things. Best to ignore the craziness and focus on the good things before the Mayan apocalypse hits and we're all enveloped in a giant fireball.

Thanks for assuaging my fears of an impending zombie death, Nick!
