Great question! I too often struggle with this ever-elusive notion of "this". Especially when somebody says to me, "we need to end this." Because really, that could mean anything, right? I've been racking my brain on this one and these are the possible options I came up with:

1) World hunger - I mean who DOESN'T want to end world hunger. Though you wouldn't really know if that's what he means unless he shows up with some shucked corn and a concerned look on his face as you all watch one of those tear-jerker commercials about some child in El Salvador named Juan who doesn't have any eyes and can survive on what amounts to a cup of rice a day. Not that I don't believe that as the body is a remarkably sturdy and efficient machine, I'd just like to see an update on Juan and some receipts at some point too.

2) The Taylor Swift love/barf fest- Ever since Kanye Kanye'd her at the MTV VMAs, the media blitz has been on to create this sort of damsel in distress, propelling her album to new heights and her career to new people who really couldn't care less about her. Somehow, that newfangled glory resulted in her album winning Album of the Year at the Grammy's, a make-up call so egregious that even NBA refs were like WTF?!?!

3) The relationship - But I assumed you'd know that evidenced by the myriad problems you two might be having, like connecting, intimacy, ultimate frisbee missteps, that awful blown book in the Spades 4 Life tournament, etc. It can't be this. That would be too obvious.

4) MLK's Dream - Everybody doesn't like the song Kumbaya.

5) Press coverage of Brangelina - Who doesn't want this to end?

6) Hollywood insistence on an overstated sense of self - For some odd reason, many Hollywood actors feel themselves to be more important than even God. Yes, acting is a spiritual experience that only Jesus himself could truly understand. Or something. I could totally see trying to convince George Clooney that, dude, you're really just an actor.

Those are just a few possibilities. It can't be 3 though. It just can't.
